I tend to agree with your position.
Amazing image isn’t it?

Today earth is in inferior conjunction for an observor on Mars, but I doubt he/she/it would see the earth transit the disk of the sun.
Probably not, but I shot this one of the transit of Venus in June of 2012...

Excellent. I tried to see the transits of Venus in 2004 and 2012 but didn’t have any luck either time. I don’t expect to be alive for the next one.

Re:

I was just lighting... my cigar--
So move along... nothing to see here.
Okay, y'all think... they bought that?
If not, Bendy, I can make... a few adjustments on the rover when it swings by!
Hello, saw your light. My name is Daffy and Barack Obama sent me... I am here to make sure all 7 million of you that signed up for ObamaCare get your premiums paid by the government.
Oh Mother... Ducker!

Had issues framing/tracking it just prior while setting up the shot. I got very lucky and barely caught the black drop effect as the transit started across the surface.

The real question is why the left camera didn't catch it. They are a few inches apart.
To: mad_as_he$$
Good point...
I suspect we’ll be hearing more about this image soon.

The real question is why the left camera didn't catch it. They are a few inches apart. Troubling part to me also.
That would point to camera artifact, but don't see how it could be that with the second picture presented.
A camera artifact could not have maintained the same topographical position with rover and camera movement.
A mystery.

Watched Robinson Crusoe on Mars a couple nights ago. Reminds me of the fire balls that seemed to roam around the terrain in that movie. Just a thought. Something venting from the ground here.

I’m sorry, we only offer Tourist.
Unless of course you prefer Cargo,
but we don’t reccomend that, it’s not
as nice as tourist, and you would have
to supply your own air.

Similar things have happened before with other scientific photos.
Oh yes, that’s what THEY told you.
How do you ever know?
How do you ever really know?
Sigh!
