According to the Chilean Office of Emergencies, ONEMI, there has been an 8.3 Richter earthquake in Iquique. They state the risk of tsunamis is high. The Chilean government is evacuating several cities along the Chilean coast. Tsunamis can be highly destructive. The first waves have already arrived in Iquique and the closest areas, but the first wave is not the most dangerous and waves can continue to arrive for hours.
