We’re talking “medians”,not”averages”.

That's what I meant, median. Actually pretty much the same thing. Does your suburb have a lot of low income people? Well, San Jose does. It's a real mix of dirt poor and ultra rich. Is that the case in your suburb? I doubt it. My daughter lived in San Jose until moving a few years ago to San Francisco. Her neighborhood was full of high income tech earners like her. Homes about $2mil. A mile away there's poor low income people renting basically dilapidated cottages. Big difference from SF, where there are few low income farmworkers and the like. The spread in SF is more concentrated around the median, while not the case in SJ.

I liked the little ethnic grocery stores, well all of the tracery stores. Andronico’s.

I wish the straight men were a little more rough and ready—too many meterosexuals.

Seattle has a pothole and tree branch problem too. It may partly because trees grow so fast in this climate.
To me, potholes seem like one of the most legitimate tasks of government, but some opinion writers scornfully refer to “pothole politics”. (Another expression of theirs is “republican library hours”, meaning shorter and less convenient. You can see why I don’t want to go back there.) Try being grateful to have a library at all. I am. I think that these are same people bitching about the Microsoft buses.

I meant grocery, not tracery, whatever that is. Autocorrect got in after me. At least it didnt write something obscene.

Our problems are due to a basic lack of funds; ten years ago the infrastructure was maintained, now it is neglected (while our property taxes are among the highest in the nation). Too much of our current revenue is meeting past obligations; it killed Detroit, and it is killing the northeast. New businesses can’t set up if the first order of business is paying people who retired twenty years ago...
