Why are they doing this? Because you can’t suffocate a politician with a paper bag or a cloth sack.
Paper bags come with a fee in Seattle. Plastic bags are banned outright( except small bags for drippy meat or produce.) EBT is exempt.
I’ve been voluntarily using cloth bags off and on for 25 years and haven’t gotten sick from a food borne illness that could be traced to that. The key word is voluntary, though. If I have too many plastic and paper bags accumulated in the drawers and cupboards, I start taking my own. When I start needing them again for garbage or whatever, I stop taking my own. No bag ban in Everett, though there have been noises about a statewide one.
Just returned from Santa Cruz Ca. Paper bag cost ten cents. It was raining so I paid cause I didn’t want things to get soaked. They smoke weed in every single store, but you can’t get a stupid bag without paying for it. Insanity.
The plastic is illegal, but the paper is not. Yet Target is not offering the paper like other stores. You must bring your own.
What happened to, “If you don’t like_____don’t do______?”. Isn’t that what liberals have been preaching about everything since Roe v. Wade?
Idiots. Just require that the recycling companies add proper equipment to handle the bags.
I live in Grapevine TX. Our garbage pickup is handled by Allied Waste/Republic Services. In the Fall of 2013, they ADDED the plastic grocery bags as acceptable items for recycling. They added a film recovery process at their North Texas Recycling Center in Forth Worth.
