There is no rush to change to status quo from a democrats stand point. As things stand now... the president has granted the illegal defacto amnesty because of his refusal to deport, and because every day that goes by more of more of these illegals are having children that are US citizens by law... which means the democrats win either way.
Do those things and illegal aliens will deport themselves and pay for the trip.
Translation: We understand that Republicans have to wait until after the 2014 Primaries before they can help us set up our permanent majority through “immigration reform”.

The only conceivable reason UpChuck wants to enact a law now to take effect in 2017 instead of waiting until 2017 is that he believes he can get a more liberal law with today’s Congress than with 2017’s. Hopefully, he’s right!

There is even a more simple solution: just enforce the laws on the books to protect and secure our borders! Enforce the law to get rid of those on welfare, but not entitled to welfare. It will cost the government less money, and there will be more jobs for US citizens!
