“Wonder how much money these raids soak up from the town budget? “

When my uncle came in to help fix the town budget he discovered that every cop was earing 50% more than their base pay because of premium overtime. Most of that was on Sundays when they had NEVER had an arrest on a Sunday.

Some day these clowns will do a no-knock and the guy behind the door wil have an M60 or something similar. When a whole SWAT team gets shreaded then maybe they will reconsider these raids.

When you hear about these raids, it always seems to be an isolated house with some pot growers, rather than a major gang drug house.

Possibly, it's because the cops want the excitement and glory (and overtime pay) but not TOO much excitement. If they really tried this stuff in the ghetto, they would have spotters telling everybody they were coming, and snipers picking them off before they even got to the door.

If the cops made a habit of it, they would find themselves getting a "tip" to raid a drug house, and when they executed the "no knock" and went inside, they would find an empty house -- empty, except for a large IED...

I doubt SWAT would be used against the large, organized drug gangs.

“‘Raiding’ the home is probably unnecessary in most cases. Going in unannounced without knocking is just ludicrous, unless they are hold up with hostages or something. “

But this would obviate “gassing up the MRAP, and rolling up” now wouldn’t it.
More LEO’s (and unfortunately citizens) will die before we stop this “tradition.”

“I am a former Texas peace officer (I refuse to use the obnoxious term LEO) and I applaud the Grand Jury. The man is innocent.”

We need men (and women) as peace officers like you! Unfortunately, there aren’t many today who have your understanding of what you were hired to do!

Why can’t the police wait for the suspect to leave their homes to arrest them?

They are emulating the BATF. Remember David Koresh? It worked so well for them. /s

“The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office would not have been there that day if Mr. Magee had not decided to live a lifestyle of doing and producing illegal drugs in his home. Therefore, we will fully prosecute the drug charges against him.”

The DA should be dragged out into the street and beat to death with a 12oz ball peen hammer like a baby seal.

This POS doesn't realize that no knock searches shouldn't be used against people that grow a small amount of dope.

Would this asshole countenance a swat raid against someone that tore the tag off of their mattress? This jackass is a danger to all those around him. He should be removed from office.

Local governments can forbid its use by any police under its power. Doubtful it would be enforceable against higher governments.
State can outlaw the use by any LE organization within the state, but does not affect Federal officers.
At the Federal level, it can be flat out outlawed.

More likely about fifty propane bottles and an ignition device. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet. That would probably slow them down some.

To quote a line from a show. “You shouldn’t be heeere. You’re in trouble! HAHAHAHA!” Boom.

“They get extra pay for no-knocks?! This behavior is incentivized!? “

Trust me, it isn’t about the money. While I’m sure they don’t mind the cash, it is playing with the toys that motivates them.

I have no problem with them convicting this man of that Marijuana plant in his home.
The court should throw the book at him and force him to pay the $50 fine. Then,
to go further he should serve 3 hours community service at the local Bowling alley
making sure all the balls and pins are safe to use.

And that Cop thing, he had it coming playing Rambo with the Constitution.

Interesting. Liberal states where there are plenty of no-knock raids that liberal governors totally approve of.

You think these only occur in states with liberal governors? This is universal, my FRiend.

No, I agree, its universal. Just responding to posters comments about appeals to require no knock raids to be approved by the governor, when it was pointed out that 4 liberal states have plenty of these raids, obviously approved by the government. But Texas is one of the worst offenders.
I believe north Dakota and Montana have the fewest no knock raids.
