I was providing my professional insight into current trends in data center fire suppression. That’s a very specific knowledge set. I can’t debate you on the finery of fire suppression chemicals, I’m only commenting because Iron Mountain is a data retention vendor with whom I’ve done business.
Halon was one of the chemicals targeted for regulation by the Montreal Protocol in the 80s. While you may be able to buy halon in the US, it’s not used commercially, and you’d likely be fined for dispersal if the EPA ever found out. Besides, freon is still available for home and business A/C and auto if you know where to look, but that doesn’t make it the standard.
