Decent actor, liked him in a number of roles. Having a hard time working up an RIP for someone who does “10 day detox” and thinks he’s cured, however.

Wonder if nObama will compare Hoffmann to his mythical “If I had a son...”?

The star was fully clothed when found.

I wonder why the Post thought it necessary to point this out? If he were naked, would he be any less dead?

I saw him on Broadway 14 years ago with John C. Reilly in "True West."

R.I.P.

Dark movie but I think he did a good job in “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead”.

In chruch this morning there was a prayer request for a mother with cancer.

I could care less about a self indulgent person who plays make believe for a living. Sorry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Seymour_Hoffman#Personal_life

“Hoffman was not raised with a deep commitment to any denomination.[4][5][6] Hoffman’s parents divorced when he was nine years old.”

Another modern American “success” story.

Looked like 65 when he died...(credit to Jim Carroll)

See The Big Lebowski - one of best films ever done.

Wikipedia has taken note and has updated the date of death.

Good actor. Like many of the most creative, they seem to have tortured souls. Can’t seem to ever be happy...

Sorry, never heard of him. Only seen two of his films, Scent of a Woman and Twister, and don’t remember him.

He happily narrated an anti-gun rights propaganda video. Another piece of crap who is good at pretending for a camera.

The last movie I saw him in was The Master with Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams. I was a very good movie but definitely dark and creepy. The script and Hoffman’s character Lancaster Dodd was based on L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology.

Geez. He died *again today? He's been announced as DOA every day for the past few days. How many times/days will this be *snooze*? He would have been great as Michael Skakel in a bioflick.
