Just looked at my local gas station.

Regular ethanol(E-10) gas is $3.04 per gallon.
Regular ethanol-free gas is $3.95 per gallon.

That is quite a big difference in price!

More than that if you're pulling a load, and in my experience the loss is proportional to the size of the load. In other words ethanol is just a way of watering down real gasoline without using water.
