Officer Friendly had an hour...
Well, in the officer’s defense, there were no dogs around to kill.
The officer CAUSED the "fracas" by following his confrontational Mary Mallninja training, and yanking the passenger door open.
Say, aren't they supposed to go to the driver's door and ID themselves to the car's driver?
Or don't they have to do that with "civilians" any more?
Right! And sitting in a car, assembling your airsoft gun (with no indication even from the police that he pointed it) is EXTREMELY threatening to a cop!!!1!
Why, sitting in my living room typing on a keyboard is very threatening to a cop! Sure glad there are none around! I'd be DEAD!
Well, I see a number of leather worshiping bad cop apologists have shown up to defend the unnecessary/unjustified shooting.
From what I have seen from the trigger-happy constabulary lately, that is a possible serious statement.
If you think a response is cause for derision, then use sarcasm tags for those of us who don't do hints well.
Ha.
Ha
funny.
Nobody should go out waving around an Airsoft AK or Airsoft anything else, and be surprised if they get shot, orange tip or not. With the cops these days just itchn for an excuse.

Ya see the date on this?
My point here is cop murders have been declining and violent crime/murder has been dropping as well for over a decade now.
Is it the cops or the people who have changed in this regard?
CONFRONTATION ÜBER ALLES!!!
Yeah, it's easy-peasy to be "confrontational" when you know that 40-50 of your fellow paramilitary pals dressed in Tacticool are just a radio call away...

Coroner: Man involved in Selah shootout dies from multiple gunshots
http://www.kimatv.com/news/local/BREAKING-Shots-Fired-in--238664431.html?mobile=y
SELAH, Wash. -- What began as deputies entering a Selah home on a search warrant quickly spiraled out of control. Nine deputies soon doubled, tripled, until there were over 50 law enforcement officials. Now, one man is dead...
...It all started with a cell phone that was linked to a car prowl, leading deputies to a Selah home. With a search warrant officers swept the property finding Humphrey inside a trailer. Refusing to come out and talk to officers a stand-off ensued.
"Something was coming down there," said neighbor Steve Beam. "We had plenty of incidents with the sheriffs coming down, they would increase patrols when we ran into trouble with the people."
Neighbors said this home has been a troubled spot for years.
Humphrey said he'd come out after speaking with SWAT. Instead he loaded up and unleashed more rounds. Five officers shot back, Humphrey was killed immediately...
"Refusing to come out and talk to officers a stand-off ensued."
See, here's that "confrontation" thingee again. The peasant MUST come out, so the paramilitary can make him belly-crawl with his hands cuffed behind his back, and maybe force-feed him a little dirt.
Well, they found they couldn't "make" him, because he was armed. Hence, the standoff ("confrontation").
While they obviously "had" to snuff him, I'm still confused about exactly why he had 'to come out and talk to the officers'. Just because "they said so"?
Odd.
Okay, T.S.C. sarc. tags coming right up!
But, but, but look drags, that IS a real weapon! It is BLACK! (opps, thaz way-ciss....I know ‘cause I axed), The thingy on the end of the barrel is not orange! The ‘clip’ is one of those extended/hi-capacity/large sized/ jobs! It is select fire capable! And that Kid! No hearing or eye protection! He should be shot! So...attention all jackboots, put out an APB for this little guy, consider him armed and dangerous. After you murder him make this claim: “This huge sized satanic monster man caused me to fear for my life AND I thought his wiener doggy was wagging his tail at me in an attacking posture”.
You’re fightin an uphill battle, ma’am.
Huge amount of cop-haters on FR. I guess they live where the cops hate the people thus they hate ‘em back.
I don’t live in such a place. I treat the law here with respect and nine out of ten times I get the same in return.
Maybe I’m lucky to live where I do.
I don't hate the police. I just wonder why they need MRAPs, assault weapons, all the military gear and more & more police and laws.
Don't you?
I know the Founding Fathers would have wondered, and wondered mightily.
Then I must have misread because I thought your posts indicated that you were as wrathful toward cops in general as you are about their increasing militarization.
But really that's your business. As I indicated in my post to Pining-4-Texas I can only judge by where I live and how I live.
I am NOT comfortable with the militarization of what used to be called our "peace officers". (The unsurprising fact is that up here you see the phenomenon much more ominously amongst U.S. Forest Service and other federal employees than you do with our cops).
But I am also sickened by the increasingly warlike environment many police officers find themselves working in. I'm not entirely surprised when they react as if in combat.
I'm a guy who will protect his life, family and property immediately and forcefully, within the law of course. I may be uneasy about certain police policies and actions but at the same time I have to wonder how differently I would act in their shoes.
I appreciate your civil post to me.

No, the police do not need all that stuff, and you might be surprised to learn that many police officers agree with you. The regular street cops view all the SWAT gadgets and procedures with a jaundiced eye.
One of our sons was a cop for several years, and he risked his life for people who hated him. On several occasions he had to make split second decisions on whether some jerk had a weapon and intended to use it. Cops do a job that most people could never do. They are threatened and abused on a daily basis and not paid much for the risky job they have.
When they leave the force for another job or retirement, almost all of them have nightmares for months while they decompress from what they saw and the alert status they had to maintain at all times.
If a cop shoots somebody, it’s all over the news. If a cop is killed, it hardly merits a mention. People who have never done the job should just shut up.
Thank you.
Thank you & your son as well.
