Yep, I thought that, too, but decided I liked it anyway.

I liked this one, too. :>)

This is “Super Polar Vortex Hillary” ... as long as we are naming all meteorological events.

The news morons out of Indianapolis have been on the tube for the last 36 hours telling all of us uninformed viewers to stay out of the weather while at the same time they are outside trying to show us how cold it is, and that we shouldn’t be doing what they are doing. What a bunch of dumbasses.

Back in the day you just needed a lightsaber and the stomach for it. Now, I’m guessing it would take a screenfull of CGI thingys, and a backstory that doesn’t make any sense.

When the California kooks took over Sedona, they created their own “vortex” there. At least that’s what I hear. I haven’t been able to figure it out yet. When I spent a lot of time in Sedona and Oak Creek back in the 60s, they didn’t have a “vortex” yet.

Is Polar Vortex related to Eddie Vortex?

What is really scary is that there are people out there that actually believe this crap!

Local weatherman, who has in the past spouted gw propaganda, called it correctly - he said it’s nothing unusual, happens all the time.

I’m in Indy too and have heard polar vortex used for all the big freeze events I can recall but never heard it in relation to global warming until now.

As a meteorologist...the most frustrating thing seen in media and climate change proponents is their lack of a long term memory.

1983 was BRUTAL. Cows ears in North Dakota were falling off. We got down to 7 in Houston in 1989. In 1899....there was ICE in Galveston Bay...and people could walk across it to Boliver. the 70's were BRUTAL....and I had a good friend of mine (fellow forecaster) who grew up in Buffalo. He told me a lot about that winter of 76-77. He said there was still snow piled up in the parks in June.

It gets cold...and records are broken. It gets HOT and records are broken. Climate is really just an average of extremes...not a constant temp....and that average is not changed since 1997. The long term climate sees periods of above normal temp of 10-20 years...which happened in the 80's and 90's...and the 20's 30's. Then periods of cold...like the 40's - 70's.

Yep....those with long-term memories need not involve themselves in the climate debate.

Called a polar vortex an Alberta Clipper when I was forecasting in the midwest.

I’m old.
