“We need India a lot more than India needs us. Like who will answer our Healthcare.gov tech questions when we can finally call them in?”

All that has to happen is that India has to cut it’s phone lines to America for 24 hours. America would soon descend into utter chaos when Americans can no longer get any help in operating the cool stuff that they bought from China.

He probably figures such antics will put him on the road to the Governor's mansion.

Interesting. It could also be as simple as the Indian caste system rearing its disgusting head. Perhaps he knew her, or perceived her, to be of a lower caste. Could be he saw an opportunity to exert control over this insolent female and teach her a lesson. Just a supposition.

Dang. I missed a perfect opportunity to lampoon him. Oh well. Here goes....

Oh-oh, Yes, I'm the great Pretindeer,
Just laughin' and glad that you're down.

I seem to be what I'm not, you see
I'm wearing my title like a crown
Pretindeeng that you're not around.

Have yet to see exactly which agency investigated, arrested, strip searched, jailed this woman. Of course it is asking a lot of our scribblers and babblers——err, I mean “professional journalists”—— to supply information in our fact- free news.

Our apparatchiks are so used to bullying American citizens and doing it to other nations also that it must really be something of a shock to the District of Corruption to receive pushback.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I’ll say one thing though about the Indian castes that make up their diplomatic corps-—— they have loads of supremely arrogant people. One of my relatives got detailed to bodyguard duty for them and couldn’t stand their arrogance and rudeness. He just had to put up with it as part of the job of course.

More disrespect and less regard for the US? I’d say that “O”s plan - fundamental change - for the US is right on track.

I guess India just didn’t totally understand that we have a Nazi style police state here. You come to Amerika you have the right to a strip search and cavity search. We don’t have no steenking diplomatic immunity here.

Top officials of the Obama Administration - in particular those in the State Department, Department of Justice and White House - took it simply a matter of "enforcing" law of the land, which was exploited by Sangeeta to immigrate to the US.

So did they strip search Sangeeta?

No? Just the Consul General?

Someone needs to be fired.

If I was in the US embassy in India I'd be worried that I or my wife might get the benefit of "turn-about-fair-play".

It is the Democrat hot shot US Attorney, Preetinder Singh "Preet" Bharara, aka the "Sheriff of Wall Street" and of Indian origin himself, who has embarrassed his adopted country by strip-searching a foreign diplomat from an important ally. He probably figures such antics will put him on the road to the Governor's mansion.

Wow. Good catch.

“The Indians have taken a hard stand because they don’t fear Obama. The USA better get used to being disrespected.”

Well then, we might as well cancel all of their work visas and really go out with a bang.

A diplomat here, a diplomat there, whose counting. Besides with unemployment as it stands we can always get another. Can’t they? Right?

Best thing that could happen to US. Then we’d have to hire AMERICAN workers to run call centers. And we’d actually be able to understand their accents. Your lips to God’s ears, as the saying goes. I do agree though that this case was handled horribly.

Unfortunately for us, Putin is reestablishing the old USSR and its allies by our clueless administration's actions!

Perhaps, we shall begin to recover after the 2016 election but..., I don't have a great deal of faith!

Folks, this so-called diplomat (minor consular official actually) deserves what she got and much more.

When in Rome, do as Romans do. Break the local laws - and be prepared to pay the consequences.

Devyani and her millionaire husband probably figured that they could get away with paying their maid $3/hr - and her father and family would bail her out of trouble - as they have done repeatedly in India.

This poster child for affirmative action (in India) comes from a family that stole from war widows in India - don't get carried away by the sensationalism in the Indian media.

Deport this wretch (or better still, convict her and make her pay for her crimes).

Hi to my FRiends here.

India is actually an English speaking democracy, and a growing military and political power in Asia. It is a natural counterweight to Pakistan and China. There are strong Indian immigrant communities in the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada.

Given these facts, India is a natural US ally. There was a very easy way to handle this situation. Somebody should have sought out her boss and given him the facts of the case. Tell him the best solution would be to get her out of the country, pronto.

But, no, somebody decided to arrest her and throw her into the justice system, ally or no ally, immunity or no immunity. The result is an international incident, heavy retribution against US diplomats, and worsening relations. Was it worth it? What was the point?

I cannot think of any other administration where this would have happened.
