No joke. I knew several people who were carjacked in the city in the same year (pre-Katrina).
One was even abducted at knifepoint and dumped (unassaulted) in a trailer park at 1am.
NO prosecution of any of the cases, even when there were ID badges (from work, school, etc.) and fingerprints and witnesses in the crimes.
And for pedestrians, they don’t have to give a breathalizer, their word that you are publicly intoxicated can be enough to charge you.
You are the governments prey and cashcow!
I believe your story completely —cops suddenly don’t like citizens and they try to do as little as possible unless it involves asset seizure or collection of fines.
I wish they would get out and nail speeders. I was almost clipped twice on Tuesday by cars weaving in and out of traffic. I haven’t seen a cop on US 290 in years. But a fender bender will bring out a slew of cops, constables and fire engines.
Oh, and the other place you’ll see a lot of cops in Houston is quitting time at factories. The factories pay them to stop traffic.
Don’t think it’s just liberal democrats.
And this proves once again that if ever comes to “us” vs “them”, the cops will be with “them”.
That’s a hundred grand per camera. And not long ago lesbo Parker was asking people to volunteer to take days off because of a budget shortfall. Who sold these cameras?
Maybe Sheila Jackson-Lee can use them to find the flag that the astronauts planted.

A neighbor and I couldn’t get the cops to follow up on construction thefts after giving them the name, address, phone number and place of the contractor and where the materials were. Nor could I get the cops to follow up on a stolen credit card number even with me giving them the company where the number was stolen from and where it was used later. They can be sitting down at the end of the road but let someone call in a neighborhood complaint and they scatter like roaches claiming there’s no one available for over an hour and still don’t show up or call back. Useless waste of tax dollars.
Doesn’t matter where they’re being pointed if they’re not turned on. Did you see any motorcycles in D.C.? All I saw were stills of nearly vacant streets even at rush hour proving to the world the million bike event didn’t happen.
Houston is one of the most liberal areas and with a huge percent of welfare recipients. Of course, it’s not their money paying for all this but federal money. When can I expect a thank you note?

And yep, follow the money. Probably the same bedbugs who sold the city the red light camera scam where they got 50% of each ticket.
Scoff if you must but neither my brother nor my mother got much face time when their homes were robbed.
Same with my friend who faced a late night pistol whipping by home invaders who stole his auto.
Popo doesn’t provide security, only paperwork and fines.

I have great admiration and respect for fire fighters but no so much for the police. Our local fire fighters would be at my house in 3 minutes if the flame on the outdoor grill gets too high. I sleep well at night knowing this. And they only ask for small donations once a year.
That’s the exact opposite here. The firefighters are volunteer so you’re lucky if they get enough to show up and that half aren’t too sloshed to hold a hose. But, hey, they don’t get paid so no complaints. By the time they show up, the job is to put out your embers so the neighbors’ doesn’t go up. As for donations, that’s another big can of worms.
