But it appears from the article here, that the shooting occurred before the call. Not so suspicious but terrible anyway. British tabloids, though, are often quite suspicious.

The dispatch says burglary in progress that they shot the suspect but it’s unknown where the suspect went.
Then dispatch says that they are reporting that the suspect MAY have been their daughter but the suspect did run off.
If the suspect ran off and was nowhere to be seen then what made them think it MAY have been the daughter.
Then dispatch says okay they found the daughter in the basement shot in the stomach and chest.
So the suspect didn’t run off but was right there with two bullets in her the whole time.
And all of this taking place in a what 2 minute phone call to 911.

Sounded like college kids. Some kind of ruckus and shouting, said neighbor Mary Cesiewicz.
Colorado Springs police got the call that a person was thought to be breaking into the home. The man living inside grabbed his gun.
The suspect turned out to be the mans 14-year-old stepdaughter.
Some bullets were removed from the side of our home, said Cesiewicz, It was shocking.
Police received the burglary call at 5:57 a.m., according to a statement from police spokesman Larry Herbert.
“Burglary in progress, 4037 Ascendant Drive, homeowner saying that they shot the suspect, unknown where the suspect was, the dispatcher reported to police officers en route.
A minute later, the dispatcher provided additional information.
Now reporting party is saying that may have been their daughter coming through the window and they dont know if she was shot, the dispatcher said.
