Somebody tell the damned old goat fool to look here at home.

He must be senile. Nothing else could explain such stupidity.

I heard this on the radio today and couldn’t believe my ears.

“but they are tired of corruption. They are tired of a bad economy

“This is a country that is in a really bad economic state, and they need an [International Monetary Fund] loan, and they need assistance. And if they turn back to Russia — I think that the consequences that they believe would happen would be rather serious,” the Arizona Republican said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Not only do Ukrainians not want to be coerced into the customs union that the Russians and Vladimir Putin are trying to push them into, McCain said, “but they are tired of corruption. They are tired of a bad economy because of that, and they really want change, And that change is epitomized by a turning to Europe and a relationship with Europe that they think will benefit them and their lives.”

“John McCain can’t seem to help himself from meddling in the internal affairs of other countries.”

He’s becoming as big a joke as Jimmy Carter, running to all these foreign countries in order to get more face time in the news.

If John McLame is for it you know its bad for the Ukrainians and its bad for Americans.

And if Juan McCain is in Ukraine then its a safe bet that the CIA is there to and up to their usual tricks. Remember, the CIA's specialty is stealing elections and overthrowing governments.

Unbelievable.

Does McCain really want to put the American taxpayer on the hook for yet another loan to a corrupt and bankrupt East European nation?

El wrongo sport. Of course some Russians moved there during the USSR days. Just as some soviet Ukrainians moved to Murmansk or St. P. Just as a Georgian might live in Moscow and work somewhere.

The game you are playing is called ethnic cleansing. If someone broke up the USA today, and Florida decided to become a nation, it’s lunacy to try to sort out who was or wasn’t there in 1945. If you live there as a citizen, you vote there.
Do you also go through Russia and deport anyone who’s family came from Ukraine in the Soviet era?

And your nutty tough talk aside, NATO 200 miles or so from Moscow is pointless and is exactly what causes this kind of crap in the first place. Europeans have had a habit of taking a shot at burning Moscow every few decades or so and killing tens of millions in the process. So what exactly is the point of acting like we are positioning to threaten or invade? To “prove” that everything the worst elements is Russia say about our plans is true? Real bright, what’s next resume U2 overflights, or B-47 recce dashes towards Moscow?

And I do indeed see Ukraine as a free and independent nation. Not in anyway Finlandized. I do not want them to be a satellite of Russia or Frankfurt. I think they have earned the chance to have a chance to be granted legal trade middleman status for ALL trade between Russia and Europe, both of which horrendously abused them. There would be no need to split Ukraine along the powerful lines that divide them east and west. And Ukraine could have a chance to become another of history’s middlemen like the Swiss, Dutch, Hong Kong, etc.

Ukraine should be independent or Europe and Russia, and wealthy.

Ukraine should be a wealthy nation at the expense of both of their historic mass murderers. What I take issue with are people who act like a trade agreement with the EU is somehow Reagans “freedom”. No citizen of Ukraine of course will be allowed to enter the EU at will. The EU doesn’t want them having quite THAT much freedom.

I think your problem is the moral equivalence that you are drawing. While you can possibly argue that holding Russia as a proxy for the Soviets' misdeeds is the same as holding the EU as a proxy for the misdeeds of Germany and her allies during WW2, you cannot avoid the simple fact that Russia pushes Ukraine around to this day, whereas Europe (or the EU) does not.

If it hasn't already been said, I'm saying it now:

John McCain is the white Repub version of Al Sharpton... never late for a photo op to a situation in which he has no business whatsoever.

What we're trying to do is try to bring about a peaceful transition here, that would stop the violence and give the Ukrainian people what they unfortunately have not had ...

It is the height of arrogance to drop by a country in crisis on the way home from a funeral and tell them that you are going to transform them and give them freedom.

Why does this a-hole think the world needs him to get on camera and run his mouth. I’m sure he was a big help to the protesters. /s

"We are here to support your just cause, the sovereign right of Ukraine to determine its own destiny freely and independently. And the destiny you seek lies in Europe," said McCain, [pretending to be] a ... Republican voice on US foreign policy.
