I think that was tried about 150 years ago... Didn’t turn out so well then...

Texas is part of The United States of America. One state of fifty.
It is not part of "The Federal Government".

Has anyone got any facts on the possibilities? While I can't demonstrate it as a fact, I predict the possibility of Texas seceding from the Union in the next 50 years as somewhere south of "slim" and "none".

As someone who had three generations of ancestors living in Texas in 1836, I sympathize with you. However, the proof we can't secede from the federal government is Texas v. White, 74 U.S. 700 (1869).

If you could get everyone in Texas to refuse to pay any more taxes to Washington, there’s a starting point. Starve the beast.

Didnt turn out so well then... I hear you, but it has popped up at late as 2012 again, and I have looked everywhere to see concrete evidence that it cannot be done.. If anyone can point me to definitive evidence that is is not legal, I'll go take my nap.. LOL

Any state that seriously shows it is going to secede will get any and all support I can lend. If it is Texas, just tell me where I need to send money to help in the fight while I get my affairs in order to move there.

I believe Texas can secede and if she decides to, I’m 100% behind her. This country has done gone crazy and the good people of Texas are sick of it.

All of that would be fine, if the newcomers would leave their failed liberal political views behind, which they obviously won't do. Tell me about it. The liberal infestation in the Denver/Boulder area is ruining Colorado. There has been serious talk about splitting Colorado in two, with the liberals forming Calirado where they can (re)try all those wonderful liberal things that are destroying California.
I'm hoping that when his final term as Sheriff of El Paso County is up, Mr. Maketa will take a run at Governor...
You know, this kind of thing is proof that liberals are slow learners - if they can learn at all. It is awfully hard to drive any facts into their skulls past the feel-good indoctrination. They get power, their big-government socialist policies trash a place (city, county, state, or country) turning it into a miserable hellhole... Then they see someplace next door that is wonderful, prosperous, free (as in freedom)...so they go there because it is an attractive place to live and work. But then they start trying to change things, to "improve" things...and the cycle starts all over again. Pretty soon the place is a miserable, over-taxed over-regulated hellhole with high unemployment and high percentages of people dependent on handouts...
