Would be interesting if they tried the same thing with a Muslim business.

Then again, they wouldn’t because they are trying to make a point with Christians.

What do you think the Civil Rights act was about? They’ve just extended that right to homosexuals.

You will service the customers they tell you to service. Or else.

"This view, however, fails to take into account the cost to society and the hurt caused to persons who are denied service simply because of who they are."

It isn't because of who they are. It is because they are making a political statement by mocking the institution of marriage. The bakery chose not to do business with these people who most likely chose a bakery that they knew would probably not support their political statement, for the purpose of acting like they are all offended when the bakery did as expected.

I remember a few years ago, a bakery refused to put "Happy Birthday, Adolf Hitler" on a cake for a little boy whose parents had named him that. That bakery was not punished for discrimination--in fact, the kids ended up being taken away from those parents.

How are these two cases any different?

An administrative law judge is the lowest level in the judiciary. The baker needs to take this to a higher court.

It's wrong to judge someone by a physical trait like skin color, but society has a right, even an obligation, to judge actions and behavior.

That's a very nice way of saying that.

I wish the world made sense.

That judge didn't rule about the law. He just made it up based on what (s)he felt. How in the world can you force someone to support something that isn't even legal in your state?

As to your comment...me, too. In the meantime, until those rebelling turn to the Lord: Anathema Maranatha.

Guess we know where this judge stands on rights of the individual vs rights of society. One brick at a time being removed from the foundation of individual freedom.

“Who is John Galt?”

A character in a novel, like James Bond or Jane Eyre, or Don Corleone. But seriously, who would want a cake from a baker who was forced to bake it. It certainly wouldn’t be his best work. And who knows what he’d put in it?

Put up a sign in the bakery saying:

“By law I am obliged to baked wedding cakes for same-sex couples. But I’m only doing so because I have to. You may or may not be happy with the result.”

That should turn off all but the most fanatical same-sex couples. And if the names on the cake are mispelled, or the icing is runny, or there’s too much of one ingredient or not enough of another, tough darts.

Yes, indeed. Because by my reading of the law, this was the correct decision.

Colorado law explicitly prevents private businesses from declining to serve homosexual customers. And it’s not the role of activist judges to decide they know better than the legislature. It’s his job to make sure the law was applied as written. Which regrettably seems to be the case here.

This needs to be appealed to the Colorado Supreme Court, which does have the authority to rule on the constitutionality of the law itself. That’s how you change a bad law.

This is a case of blame the legislators (and by extension the people who vote them in) not the courts. Normally, this is the way we want things to work. But sometimes the dice come up snake eyes.

Democracy = Rule by the Majority

Percentage of Gay people = Even though inflated the percentage of homosexuals will ALWAYS be a minority.

So these libs love to rule by Majority ie. Democracy yet they let themselves be let around by the nose by a “Sacred Minority”

Gotta love the Hypocrite Style thinking there...

At least a Republic Protects the “Reasonable Rights” of any minority groups, but the gays and libs are just too damned stupid to realize that....

Yeah, double standards...

Now if the Nazi couple had been "G-Hey"....

Indeed. But it’s important we don’t ditch our principles at every temporary setback.

That’s actually a good point. We should start reversing this play. Go into some homo-dominated fashion designer or interior decorator and tell them you want a leather jacket made to look like the SS officer’s trench coat, or furniture just like what Hitler had at Schloss Adler. Or order a cake with “God hates fags” on it. Then if the poofs decline your order, you can bring the same suit against them. You’ll lose of course, but it will clearly demonstrate the double standard and might weaken the precedent.

He should make a towering Penis cake for a lesbian wedding and a big boob cake with big red nipples for the homo weddings.

> So this “judge” is now saying that the ‘right to refuse service’ no longer exists?

Yes but only if the customerz are gay, Muslims, or minorities.
