>> Sir your seat is right there between the lady with the screaming baby and the lady with the pit bull. Enjoy your flight.

heh... although the flight can’t possibly be as much fun as the TSA orifice search.

You, sir, are clueless, no matter what you saw in a “big city ER.”

Some dogs can detect impending seizures; proven fact.

My wife and I are German Shepherd Dog breeders, and donated a dog to a service dog organization several years back. It was placed with a woman stricken with some sort of recurring seizures (never knew what kind), and was specifically taught to stand over his owner when she had a seizure, and then stand still to allow her to pull herself up when she recovered. (He was a big, strong dog.) The dog soon learned to detect when a seizure was impending and let the woman know (by not letting her move around), giving her approximately 10-20 minutes lead time to the seizure occurrence. They didn’t try to teach him this; he learned it on his own.

She eventually had a bad seizure on a city street (yes, he did warn her, but she couldn’t make it to a safer place in time) and he stood watch over her until she was taken to the hospital. She never made it out of the hospital.

He was then placed with another woman who had epileptic seizures and was also a diabetic. He quickly learned to detect her impending epileptic seizures, and also learned how to detect when her blood sugar was getting too low (she wasn’t particularly good at keeping track it). He was invaluable to this woman.

This sort of service dog is not a hoax, fraud or phony.

You are acting like a child. There is a HUGE difference between bombs exploding all around you, watching your buddies blown to bits, and being beaten or sexually abused. I’m not saying the latter is a picnic, but it is nowhere near the same thing. I was beaten bloody as a child so don’t try to snow me.

Or maybe she just wanted a dog to take in public.

A cracker is a cracker is a cracker. You can’t reason with them, you can’t be logical with them, you can’t do anything but KILL them. They can’t be trained, they are all EEEEEEEVIL!!!

ALL crackers are untrainable and MUST BE DESTROYED!!

I see an eye dee ten tee problem here. No solution possible.

Eliminate or ignore.

I’ll ignore.

That makes me angry too. I see plenty of young healthy people park in handicapped spots and use grandma's placard and never give it a thought.

>> The amount of trauma she went through because of abuse may have been more harrowing than even you could bear.

Yeah, or it may just be another bunch of “everyone in America these days is a whining special-treatment victim and deserves a good ass-sucking” bunch of shit.

Who knows.

You can buy service dog papers collar vest and anything else you want over the internet. I would like to see the training records on this dog. If someone sat down beside me with a pit bull I would tell them in a heart beat to get their dog away from me. I'm a long time military attack dog trainer and handler and have no trust for that breed.

This lady is nothing more than a gold digger looking for a big story and a bigger payoff. They need to tell her to take a hike and show up in court with proof that this dog was professionally trained and then permitted/certified as a service dog by the appropriate agency and not an internet hoax.

There are standards, requirements, certification, and official paperwork involved with service dogs. I would make her show it all in court.

Did you notice my use of the word “if”? Now if you have reasons to believe her doctor is lying about his diagnosis I think you should take that up with California medical board. It’s Berkley so I bet there are all sorts of therapists there.

It is interesting to note that her Schuyler Works page links to “Yelp” reviews she has given over the last few years. One review certainly contradicts her claim about not traveling,
“I travel to New Orleans frequently on business.”
That was written in 2010. I would really like to know if her doctor is a psychiatrist or a counselor or other mental health treatment provider without an M.D.

And she’s a double major in communications and women’s studies... I could have guessed that.

My wife and I are German Shepherd Dog breeders...

Wow....that sure beats my experience witnessing just about every medical, surgical and psychiatric condition known to medical science and actively participating in the treatment of most of them.

Yah, pisses me off, too. My mom has certified tags on her car and requires a rollator to walk even short distances.

No. Being broken is being broken. Some are traumatized by watching such things in a war zone and others have been broken by having their sense of personhood stripped from them by somebody inflicting horrible acts upon them. If you say otherwise, it can only be because you have little knowledge as to how bad childhood abuse can get, otherwise you wouldn’t have typed what you just typed.

I agree with you that society may be somewhat lax in seriously determining who has PTSD and who does not, but to say that it can only in a war zone, you would be quite mistaken.

Her trauma may be a work of fiction too.

Doesn’t really matter because thats not the issue. The ‘service’ dog is a dangerous breed which doesn’t belong on a plane unless its in a cage.

Hides them all does she?

Did you see the article about cats knowing their master’s voice but not caring enough to pay attention to it?

The issue isn’t whether she’s crazy or traumatized.

Its whether she should be allowed to bring a dangerous dog onto a plane.

As a frequent flyer I vote she drive the next time.

What about people who are allergic to animals?
Does one have precedence over the other?

Service dogs have had their temperament tested. No worries about an unprovoked bite.

Yes, there was cause for worry. This was a pitbull.
