John 1:1-14 “In [a]the [b]beginning [c]was [d]that Word, and that Word was [e]with God, and that [f]Word was God.

2 This same was in the beginning with God.

3 [g]All [h]things were made by it, and [i]without it [j]was made nothing that was made.

4 [k]In it [l]was life, and that life was [m]the light of men.

5 [n]And that light shineth in the wilderness, and the darkness [o]comprehendeth it not.

6 ¶ [p]There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 This same came for a witness, to bear witness of that light, that all men [q]through him might believe.

8 He was not [r]that light, but was sent to bear witness of that light.

9 [s]This was [t]that true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 [u]He was in the world, and the world was made by him: and the world knew him not.

11 He came [v]unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 [w]But as many as received him, to them he gave [x]prerogative to be the sons of God, even to them that believe in his Name,

13 Which are born not of blood, nor of the [y]will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 [z]And that Word was made [aa]flesh, and [ab]dwelt among us, (and we saw the [ac]glory thereof, [ad]as the glory of the only begotten Son of the Father) [ae]full of grace and truth.”

(KJV)

There are very FEW monogamous same sex relationships. Even those who get ‘married’ are, by and large, not monogamous.

They will claim "monogamy" - actually, they call it "monogamish" or "open monogamy" - but it simply means promiscuous cheating with permission. Virtually ALL homosexual relationships are like this.

In our church anyone is welcome.

Welcome to join as fellow Christians, or welcome to visit?

The former is unbiblical when it concerns avowed celebrators of sin or unbelievers.

The fact Protestantism can not prove its doctrines with Scripture is where Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons come from.

Please demonstrate where the Scripture states “ Scripture
always refers to Scripture.”

Trust me, this is a tar baby you can not extricate yourself from. If it were, Protestants would answer with Scripture rather than accusation predicated on interpretation of Scripture, most of the time.

God does not contradict Himself. Ever. Please feel free to demonstrate the opposite. I’d be interested to see such. Your argument holds no water. Believe me, I’m not the one in the hot seat here, disbelieving God’s Word. The fact that you are unaware that Scriptures refer back to other Scriptures is sad, but telling. I hope you make some move to change that in the future.

And the fact that no where does that Scripture simply say “Jesus is God Almighty” is an example of why Protestants have to retreat to the claim of “special revelation” by “guidance” of the Holy Spirit, but have to deny it to any who don’t agree with their doctrines, because they don’t agree with those doctrines.

That is circular reasoning by definition.

To what contradiction are you referring?

Actually, I think there are AMPLE examples of where Catholicism makes things up as they go — Mary was sinless (when Scripture says otherwise), Peter was the first Pope (which Scripture clearly does NOT say), one should pray to the dead (Saints — but only those declared so by the RCC), oh, Catholicism is just FULL of things they have made up and which cannot be found ANYWHERE in Scripture, so nice attempt at diversion, but sorry, no, it’s not Protestantism that engages in that kind of circularity and historical revisionism. Catholicism is the religion which proclaims its doctrines to be authoritative because....well, just because, don’t you know.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.

Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.

Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.

Amen.

She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.

(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)

John 1:1 and Genesis provide answers to any argument for polytheism. (See above post 21). Scripture does not contradict itself. It is “sharper than a two-edged Sword”. It supports itself in Truth. Sorry if that’s something with which you disagree. You would be disavowing Scripture as God’s Word. That’s not a winning position.

“The fact Protestantism can not prove its doctrines with Scripture is where Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons come from.”

Uh, no, not really. Mormons are polytheists. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe Christ is God...which from one of your previous posts appears to be something with which you agree on....Interesting....

“Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died;
this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us (his) flesh to eat?”

Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.

For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.

This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum
Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you?

What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.
And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.”

As a result of this, many (of) his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him

Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?”

Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”
Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is not one of you a devil?”

He was referring to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot; it was he who would betray him, one of the Twelve.” [John 6: 49-71]

Actually, Scripture states that believers are given the Holy Spirit for guidance. This is a common misconception by Catholics as they think equate it with some “private interpretation unauthorized by Scripture, contradictory to Scripture and unverifiable” which is patent nonsense. Those who deny the aid of the Holy Spirit and His presence in the life of the believer demonstrate that they have no idea Who He is and how He operates - which is sad in the extreme. They posit themselves in contradiction to Scripture.

Nice Bible quote. It’s a shame Catholicism twists it to the extent that they do. Talk about a misinterpretation!

This is exactly what I'm talking about: you can't even seem to get it through your head Catholicism does not maintain the Scripture is the sum total of special revelation from God, therefore, we are not required to find each and every doctrine explicitly outlined in the Scripture as Protestants erroneously claim to do.

Catholicism recognizes the Bible is a product of the Church, not the other way round.

Dangerous demonic doctrine indeed. Scripture condemns those who add to it, attempting to create their own authority — and what’s this “you” bit?? Making this personal now??

Don't dodge the question, what contradiction are you referring to, or is accusation so ingrained it's automatic?

But just for grins and giggles, please explain the "tohu va bohu" contradiction.
