Seriously, I’m trying to figger that out, but it’s not making any sense. Watching games played... what is the strategy? Just filling-up 9 boxes w/ 9 numbers? Do they have to be in numerical order?

Need to do some research, I guess. I’d rather dope the scope, and shoot 9 groundhogs or 9 coons at 200-300yds. Heh.

Do you & Mrs S do Feng shui, too?

9 numbers in one box

9 numbers in one column

9 numbers in one row

It takes some time to figure it out. Start with the easy ones first. It’s addictive if you like puzzles.

Let me be more clear.

ONLY 1-9, 123456789 in one box.

ONLY 1-9, 123456789 in one column.

ONLY 1-9, 123456789 in one row.

Let me be even more clear.

1-9 is of course not in any particular order.

I’m getting it! The Glenlivet 18 is working!!

What happened with the small left-top numbers in this game? Doubles in a box?

Those are called “marks” ruled “in” by the conflicting same numbers.

My strategy is using only pairs ruled out.

They change as the pink square moves around, filling-in the numbers in each 9-block square, eliminating doubles.

I gotta get into this more! Thanks for the tip. I can only imagine what the game is, based upon what I’ve seen, and what you’ve provided, so far.

I used to do the entire NYTimes Puzzle in >45mins on the ride from Princeton to Penn Station, everyday, when others only had 1/4 of it done, back in the mid-80s. Haven’t done puzzles in many years. It’s now coming back.... thanks for the tip, Clint, my FRiend!

My mind is whirring & spinning, again...

I can do THE hardest Sudoku puzzles but only using ruled in pairs. Which was impossible to understand for my father and BIL who taught me how to play. It just takes me longer than the savants.

There is a way to fill up all, not just pairs, ruled in multiples and use a method I can’t figure out.

Daily challenge, which is only a hard puzzle, I only average in the bottom 20%. Today was good, 122/177.

Totally different than Crossword but the same!

In crossword you have to know how to spell and figure out hints, in Sudoku anyone can count from 1-9...you just have to figure out where they go. Completely different left brain-right brain activity if you ask me.

The pink square is the player inputing another number or a mark. Remember mark “pairs” take up “either/or” space in the box so they aren’t another place in the box. You can’t use pairs in rows or columns unless they are inside a box or unless they are ruled out by other row or column conflicts.

Understand yet? ;o) heheh...

Last bit of advice, the puzzle can only solved one way. One conflict it won’t be correct.

Conflict = same number in a box, same number in a row, same number in a column...

Gettysburg..a place my late husband and I always wanted to see, and experience that special feeling of walking on such hallowed ground. But he died b/4 we could go, and now it’s a little too late for me to see it. But, perhaps in my next life, I’ll get the chance to walk the grounds and be with these brave men, at least in spirit. May they rest in peace, Amen.
