From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.
THE ARMY
Over hill, over dale
As we hit the dusty trail,
And the Caissons go rolling along.
In and out, hear them shout,
Counter march and right about,
And the Caissons go rolling along.
Then it's hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
For where e'er you go,
You will always know
That the Caissons go rolling along.
THE NAVY
Anchors Aweigh, my boys
Anchors Aweigh
Farewell to college joys
We sail at break of day, 'ay 'ay 'ay
O'er our last night ashore
Drink to the foam
Until we meet once more
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home!
THE AIR FORCE
Off we go into the wild blue yonder
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At'em boys, giv'er the gun!
Down we dive spouting our flames from under,
Off with one hell-uv-a roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame,
Nothing'll stop the US Air Force!
THE COAST GUARD
We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through surf and storm and howling gale,
High shall our purpose be.
"Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our fame, our glory, too.
To fight to save or fight and die,
Aye! Coast Guard we are for you!
Heave Ho, My Lads, Heave Ho
Its a long, long way to go.
It's A Long, Long Pull With Our Hatches Full.
Braving The Wind, Braving The Sea,
Fighting The Treacherous Foe.
Heave Ho, My Lads, Heave Ho,
Let The Sea Roll, High or Low,
We can Cross Any Ocean, Sail Any River,
Give Us The Goods, And We'll Deliver,
Damn The Submarines,
We Are The Men Of The Merchant Marines.
Sooooo I worked today, and at 1330, commenced assisting about 100 Veterans (aged about 45-99!!)into the auditorium on campus for the Veteran’s Day program....I told a couple fellas in the back row, that I expected them to be in full voice when they salute to the services was played... the salute begins..ARMY....then Marines (Yep I was in full voice for that one ;-) then Navy (Much fuller voice for this one)....then Air Force...and I hear a commotion....and some old fella up in the front, in a wheelchair was desperately trying to stand when his song was played......and the retired Sergeant Major on the dias, jumped off the stage, to assist the poor gentleman...and you should have heard the applause when that old fella got even half way up!! It was uplifting, to say the least )and no pun intended)......
