they were AIM-47 that evolved iirc into the AIM-54 Phoenix missiles and iirc only about 5/6 planes were equipped to carry them before discontinuation

I have no way of proving or disproving the assertions made by Donald Nijboer in his book ‘Cockpits of the Cold War’ but he is the only one making those assertions that I know of and let's face it he's trying to sell a book!!!

Ol Kelly Johnson was a man way ahead of his time. I knew some of his family. He was a man of few words. If Kelly made aircraft like the SR71 way back then, what could he have designed that we know nothing of?
He was a thinker, something we have few of today. Ishpeming Mich has a lot of thinkers, being a mining town. They had to come up with solutions on site because there was no other.

If it’s from bho’s administration it’ll be solar powered and not get off the ground and be someone elses fault.

It leaked like a bucket with holes in it. Until it got up in the air/inner space and heated up.
But it make a person wonder what the hell Kelly Johnsons vision was for future aircraft. A aircraft that could go that fast, and so advanced built way back then? When the technology wasn't available they way it is now?

It leaked because the plane’s skin and air framing would expand when flying at those incredible speeds, so if it was tight fitting it would buckle and cause problems.

It’s scheduled for delivery 17 years from now.
Funny, people talk like they’re testflighting it now.

Not sure how the MiG-31s would get in position to intercept a SR-71. The Blackbird cruised at M 3.2 at 80,000+ feet. The MiG-31’s top speed is M 2.8.
It’s a simple matter of geometry.
The only way this would have been feasible is if the MiG-31s fired long-range AAMs similar to the USN Phoenix. But there is no way to have been sure of such a shot without actually firing the missiles and seeing the actual results.

The Loral Space kickback story has not (and never will) be covered by the Drive-Bys. Someday, someone will write the definitive biography of the Clintons and their disloyalty and self dealing.
Maybe once we're finally through with them...
