I once drove from Connecticut to Portland, Oregon, in six days. It was January and I had to barrel through two blizzards... Medicine Bow Pass was an incredible experience for a first-time out West trip during near whiteout conditions.

I’m jealous of those guys, though. I often wish that we had autobahn speed limits in this country.

I here they used a different route than the other records were set on.

This is effectively cheatery.


I don’t think there ever was just ONE route. You took whatever route you thought would get you there the fastest.

You had a fixed starting point, and a fixed end point. In between was up to you.

How come a guy driving too fast is a maniac, but one driving too slow is an idiot?

How about a contest to see who can make the slowest entry onto an Interstate?
