So the school is essentially saying let your drunk friends drive and kill themselves or someone else or get in trouble for helping them. God job.

If you’re helping drive underage teens home from a party, you’re enabling them to break the law and violate the school policy. As for kids driving home drunk, there’s a solution to that. Tell the parents to teach them to obey the law, respect their bodies and not drink. If a kid drives the drunk kid home, that’s also helping the drunk kid to hide the activity from his parents. He should be calling his parents for the ride and not recruiting his otherwise innocent, non-participating friend as an enabler. It doesn’t sound like the punishment she got was disproportionate.

The student has more common sense than the school administration. This is what happens when all references to God and his commandments are thrown out of our education system. They set up lists of silly rules that are considered to be sacrosanct, and then condemn those kids who believe in the Bible and the ten commandments.

“””Neither the school district nor its attorney could be reached for comment””””

That’s the biggest problem with schools these days. They lawyer up right away instead of having the Principal look at the situation, use some common sense and end it right there.

But Andover High told Erin she was in violation of the district’s zero tolerance policy

I am sick of "Zero Tolerance" being applied to everything in life so people who are in authority don't have to think or make judgement calls.
Posses a gun, out
Posses a picture of a gun, out.
Eat a pop-tart into the shape of a gun, out.

Underage drinking, out.
Pick up a friend who had been drinking so she doesn't kill herself or someone else while driving drunk, OUT!

The world has gone nuts and school administrators in particular need to be THROWN OUT!

And she should have called the kids’ parents if she cared about his well-being, not drive him home herself.

As long as people vote for fools as school board members and give mediocre teachers and administrators tenure, nonsense like this will continue to happen. The only way to hold them accountable is to sue them personally wherever possible.

what part of the police evindence that the child was neither using drugs nor drinking alcohol nor in the POSESSION of SAME do these dweebs not GET?

do they somehow assume that being in PROXIMITY.to..equates to Posession OF?

in that case I owned dozens of collectable automobiles the last time I visited a car show...

It's also helping the kid not kill ME.

As for kids driving home drunk, there’s a solution to that. Tell the parents to teach them to obey the law, respect their bodies and not drink.

And, kids always do what their parents say, right?

sounds to me like there is no Grace in your life- would you rather she was there drinking -? for Heavens sake - she PREVENTED someone from driving drunk and possibly hitting YOUR child

In my book - preventing a felony dwi trumps school policy, which btw had nothing to do with school property etc...

children belong to their parents, not the nanny state

stop feeding inti it

Wow. I guess you skipped those teen years altogether.

Born an adult... weaned on a pickle. :-)

I'm from there. In my youth, the principal would have thanked the student for being responsible, while reminding her about the dangers of alcohol. And that would have been that. But today, it's never that simple. It's about Following The Agenda, always, because we might lose our State and Federal funding if we don't make an example out of someone.

"Zero Tolerance" = Zero Intelligence. Welcome to Obamerika.

“She didn’t do anything wrong. She did what she thought was right...."

Those two things sound really stupid when put together.

So the school is essentially saying let your drunk friends drive

No, it says kids should not drink. Maybe the friend should have called a taxi? These moronic kids/adults throwing this party should probably be charged with something harsh.

because God knows how much kids need to get drunk a lot, silly rules like no drunken kids are totally against the ten commandments.

Thou shalt get thy children drunk is in there somewhere??

I can guarantee you I skipped any event where underage kids were drinking alcohol, as every young person should.

No right??

You statist!

I’ll vouch for you; I don’t ever remember you at any of the events I was at, and I’m *sure* a guy with a halo would have stuck in my memory.
