One thing I have noticed with Zippy and these flag Officer reliefs, the reasons never involve tactical decision making or abilities.

There's not much in this update, but I believe it is. He was an Navy 3-star...deputy at STRATCOM.
At the height of WW II..the US had some 16 MILLION in uniform. Today, the number is about 2 million, yet we have more than 4 times the number of flag rank general officers/admirals than we did back then. It's called "rank" inflation..
Seems like a lot of general officers getting canned lately. The Administration wishing to elevate its flunkies?

Not hardly, there are about 960 flag and general officers on active duty in the four armed services and the USPHS.
