Call your Dem Senators and ask them to support a one year delay because the “roll out” and the rules are so confusing.
If you’re ‘confused’ they’ll know you are a Dem voter!
If they ask Harry for a delaying amendment -they won’t make any vote Harry doesn’t approve of- it will weaken Harry and show lack of support for Obamacare in his caucus.
The downside is Harry might accede to it and defunding would be stopped in it’s tracks, but they’re not that smart or brave. But a year’s delay is the House fallback position and if it’s already in hand they can ask for some other oncession.
Anyway, at least they’ll listen and get scared that the media won’t be able to protect them from the roll out problems.
I don’t want a one-year delay
if we have to be saddled with this obscenity let the people see its effects BEFORE the 2014 midterm elections
The democrats would love to postpone it for one more year
Just an idea of how to get strongly left Dem Senators, like my Kaine and Warner, to listen.
Of course reasonable Senators should be asked to support stopping closure.
Excellent thread.....Keep reminding people!!! :)
One of those six clotures that shuts off debate to the overall funding bill.
Where then Reid will use a procedure called the motion to strike to strip out the defunding language that only needs 51 votes after cloture.
You are welcome! Copy and pass it on!

1.) DEFUND Obamacare in 2013; and
2.) ABOLISH Obamacare, Democratcare, and Republicancare in the first month of 2014.

Oppose cloture for how long? What are the conditions for moving forward?
“Oppose cloture for how long? What are the conditions for moving forward?”
If cloture is filibustered then the House quickly sends new funding bills to the Senate to prevent shutdown. The bills have already been written.
While the Senate continues to argues over Obamacare the government will stay open- or be blatantly shut down by Harry Reid.
????So what your saying is we were screwed as of yesterday?
“????So what your saying is we were screwed as of yesterday?”
No, why do you say that? The only vote yesterday was the motion to proceed. The upcoming cloture vote is where we will ge screwed (by our own party).
Save your energy for voting these elitists out of office. They do not care about what we the people want just their own continued power in Washington. The GOP leadership are just the eunuchs in Emperor Obama’s court.
I understand, I just don’t think it is a good idea
I think it would give the democraps a much better chance in 2014 then
Cornyn is not accepting any calls on any of his contact phones numbers.
he is saying Nyet to his constituents.
I say we need to Nyet Cornyn
When I called King’s office, yesterday, I was polite. I did ask why the congressman was saying vile things about someone in his own party - Sen Cruz. That it wasn’t right OR professional. The staffer actually agreed with me.
That cartoon is brilliant!
There's one response to condescending little smarty-britches statements like that:
if we have to be saddled with this obscenity let the people see its effects BEFORE the 2014 midterm elections
The democrats would love to postpone it for one more year
I agree. I called my congresscritter's office yesterday to express the same sentiment and told the young man who answered the phone to ask him to vote against Blackburn's delay amendment.
They should vote on defunding once again, but as a stand-alone bill. Get everyone on record now.
The young man said I was the first to call about the delay tactic coming up and that he would tell DesJarlais what I'd said. He read back what he'd written down during our conversation to make sure he had it correct, which he did.
This may be the route to go since we know Reid is going to put funding back into the current CR. I just don't know that there'll be enough votes in the Senate to stop it. grrrrr! So we need to work on the House to stop the delay tactic, which I believe is the wrong way to go. We don't need to give the dems breathing room next year.
