Nope...you’re a republican, so all the taint of the log cabin republicans is all over you. See how easy that was? Didn’t require a whole lot of effort. Just find the least desirable element an entire group and tie your opponent to them. Thanks for showing me how that works.
I know that libertarians are libertarians and why they are at war with conservatives and conservatism.
On this thread I am being posted at/attacked by a number of libertarians opposed to social conservatism, yet while you two are claiming to be social conservatives, you aren't shocked at them and taking them on, instead you too are fighting the social conservative.
Sorry for you and your accuracy, but yes, the largest group within the tea party is social conservatives, and the religious right. The tea party is more religion oriented than other voters.
“New Poll: Tea Party Overwhelmingly Christian And Socially Conservative. by JJ SUTHERLANd October 05, 2010
“A new poll is out today from the Public Religion Research Institute.
first, it’s an overwhelmingly Christian group. 81% identify as Christian, and nearly half (47%) say they are part of the religious right or conservative Christian movement.
Secondly, it isn’t libertarian, it’s much more socially conservative, with 63% saying abortion should be illegal and only 18% in favor of gay marriage.
Third, it is fundamentally a Republican movement. 76 percent identify or lean towards the Republican party.”
Pew Research—”The Tea Party and Religion”
Tea Party supporters also tend to take socially conservative positions on abortion and same-sex marriage. While registered voters as a whole are closely divided on same-sex marriage (42% in favor, 49% opposed), Tea Party supporters oppose it by more than 2-to-1 (64% opposed, 26% in favor). Similarly, almost six-in-ten (59%) of those who agree with the Tea Party say abortion should be illegal in all or most cases, 17 percentage points higher than among all registered voters. Tea Party supporters closely resemble Republican voters as a whole on these issues.
Roughly half of Tea Party backers said their religious beliefs are the most important influence on their views of gay marriage (53%) and abortion (46%).
By contrast, 37% of registered voters overall cited their religious beliefs as the most important influence on their views of same-sex marriage and 28% cited religion as the primary influence on their views of abortion.
poor bubbles getting burst
Log Cabin republicans promote a an anti-conservative, libertarian view on homosexual issues.
Libertarian position on personal relationships.
“Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the government’s treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws.’
The federal government has to decide on marriage as well and it always has.
Recently it made a libertarian decision to accept gay marriage for the military, employment and immigration etc.
I didn’t realize that you were such a supporter of the homosexual agenda that you would respond like that to post 325.
You really embrace the recent changes for the military and homosexuality?
=========================
As far as Jefferson, the Wedding Bond was probably for his church, and the license in Williamsburg (the center for the government) of the state.
So you can’t focus on the topic and our posts?
Rather than personally attacking me for my position on homosexuals in the military and gay marriage in the military, why not merely explain why you support them.
>> opposed to social conservatism
Who specifically?
LOL, read the thread, perhaps the post just above yours as an example.
You really didn’t notice any posts to me or others, of libertarians berating us and disagreeing with us about social conservatism?
I didn’t read the thread in its entirety. Maybe later.
Yet so much of your posting is about that very fact about libertarians and claiming that it isn’t the reality.
You would know more about libertarians if you would read their posts on the threads here at freerepublic.
You are impossible.
See post 322.
Maybe you can direct me to a single one of your own posts on this thread calling for continued opposition to homosexuality and gay marriage in the military and immigration, or any opposition with the libertarian party’s position on homosexuality.
I looked and couldn’t find such a post from you.
I don’t disagree. My whole argument is that those laws should be made at the state and local level.
I understand that and disagree with those decisions. I do not consider myself a libertarian, but in discussions with my libertarian friends, their argument makes sense. The Conservative movement has always been about smaller government, the rationale from libertarians is that the GOP has become a party of “big government” as well, just in a different vein.
