Starbuck’s should answer the question of, “how many times has someone openly carrying a firearm actually disrupted the business going on at the store?”

People who open carry typically are the least confrontational people you can find, so this doesn’t make much sense.

I think he chose a side a long time ago, he’s just now going public. His liberal morals only allowed him to accept gun-owners money for so long before he felt compelled to act.

In essence you are saying that it is alright to have OC made illegal. What will you say when CC is also made illegal?

I think the best response is to stop bringing money into Starbucks stores.

The part I do not understand is why anyone would choose to be alarmed or frightened at the mere sight of a holstered firearm.

I believe Starbucks is all part of the national chain

Most of them are. The ones you see in supermarkets and similar venues are generally licensed, and are not corporate stores. Generally, stand alone stores will be corporate.

The only time I'm not carrying is when I'm in bed, because it's too lumpy when I do. I'll be carrying in Starbucks the same way I do everywhere else. Unfortunately TX doesn't have open carry yet, because we have too many "republicans" who used to be democrats in our legislature because they knew they couldn't get elected under that tainted label.

I said no such thing. I said it’s tactically stupid.

I agree with you there. Perhaps a compromise position would have been for the CEO to ask that gun-rights advocates refrain from holding any more unofficial “appreciation days”, and that anti-gun weenies stop picketing.

Indeed, I don't think most reasonable people would have a problem with "We don't mind if our customers wish to arm themselves for their own protection, but would prefer that they be at least somewhat discrete about it, so as to avoid causing discomfort for our other customers".

Never been in one of those shops. I guess the nearest one is 30-35 miles away. Love the boonies.

Would you stand up and fight against making OC illegal?

The only Starbucks I ever was in was in Beijing...in the Forbidden City. It was a very cold winter day and we craved some heat from coffee. There it was inside a historical structure. A year after we were there, it was removed because of its inappropriateness to the setting. I have some vague regrets about ever giving them a penny.
