I have always thought of Petreus as a Dem. Atkinson was embedded with him early in the Itaq invasion and I got the impression that they were both Dems and pretty negative about the Bush policies.

So he wants to pimp out US forces to help out the jihadis in Syria? War is a racket.

So he wants to pimp out US forces to help out the jihadis in Syria? That's what we've been doing since 1991.

I guess the “Rockefeller Republican” is “all in” for the war to help Al-Queda.
This thread needs a “Barf Alert.”

"Drudge has reported the EU and world leaders as well as Petraeus are for the US going into Syria. Nonintervention is beginning to crumble. Obama will get his way on this. We shall see."
And how many of them are going to put up planes, pilots and missiles? For that matter, how many of them have been aided in their decision by offers and nudges involving US dollars and other assistance? I don't trust Obama one inch and he has decided he needs a war now for his own purposes, not what is good for the US.

What really frustrates me about this circus is, that when one considers the best outcome for the United States, it cannot be seen. The only wise thing to do is to allow them to continue to kill each other.
The enemy of your enemy is not your friend, sometimes they are convenient.
This isn't one of those times.

General, thank you for your service. Your reputation is known by all.
It is now time for you to take your pension check and go sip something cold on the back deck of your vacation home.

The only wise thing to do is to allow them to continue to kill each other. And when we are warned that by staying out of it we cede influence in the region to Russia and China, I say, let them have it.
As global energy prices stabilize at a level which makes it economical to be self-sufficient, we should our backs on that mess.
