Asner said the lack of an organized effort against war in Syria is a matter of timing. Bush took months to make the case for war in Iraq, giving the antiwar left plenty of time to prepare a response.

I'm trying to fathom the deeper meaning of this statement.

Is Asner saying that Hollywood would rather see a dictator who acts unilaterally but swiftly, over a coalition-builder who takes the time to make his case before the international community, because Obama is not giving Hollywood the time to mobilize, and that's probably a good thing for the Left?

Never mind that there was an existing UN resolution which authorized force if Saddam Hussein behaved badly, and STILL Bush went before the UN to present the case. Never mind that the US Congress, dominated by Democrats, voted for the invasion. If lefties say it was illegal, it was illegal in whatever alternate reality they prefer to inhabit. That is why our side should learn to stop trying to reason with these idiots and just bitch slap the living hell out of them instead.
