The kids hate the food and go hungry. The public hates Obamacare and the thought of another war.
And for that matter, just about everything those two do, e.g. expensive vacays, closing the WH, etc. etc.

Consequently, Barry and his beard are a real power couple.
The students should be issued food stamps redeemable at local restaurants.

It's more about keeping the wallets of the "connected" suppliers full, than in keeping students bellies full.
I would be interested in an audit of the lunch program, to include really looking at the quality of the food supplied.

It may be that part of the reason the food doesn't taste good enough for kids to want to eat it, is that it's actually rotten.
When my daughter was in elementary school, she loved the school lunches; having participated in my fair share of “lunch with your child” events there I could understand why. The food was really good, down to the point where the bread was baked fresh on the premises every morning.
Boy have things changed. She’s in 10th grade now and absolutely hates the school food and policy changes that went into effect probably about the time she started 8th grade. There is no more a la carte purchasing, so if she wants fruit she has to buy a whole lunch to get an apple or an orange - and this is a child who will polish off a 5 pound bag of oranges and a 5 pound bag of apples in the space of 3 days. She’s been bringing her own with her and just buying a drink at school.
She’s a pretty good kid when it comes to language, but without even flinching she told me point blank “the food sucks.”
Need to bring back the Apple Betty!
Pizza, burgers and fries, sandwiches and a veggie meal should be the only thing served in schools.
And bring back gym class.

Schools are now sending letters to parents informing them that their child is obese.

When I was a girl in the Southwest, the Mexican food in the cafeteria was always good, because all the cooks were Mexican. On non-Mexican days, kids brought their own lunch if they could.
I’ve been thinking about schools offering giving children a whole apple or whole orange. My kids will eat bushels of fruit, if it’s cut up. Lots of elementary school children are missing teeth, so how are they supposed to eat a whole apple, and it’s not as if they’re allowed to have knives.
This happens at all schools.....if a child doesn’t want something he is forced to take it. If they take a milk and don’t open it, it is thrown in the trash. Vendors only get paid for food that is taken.
I went to a small all girl Catholic high school. On Fridays the offerings were knishes from a neighborhood Jewish deli, pizza from a local pizzaria, or tuna salad sandwiches made in the cafeteria. The deli and pizzaria delivered everything in the morning and they were cooked in the cafeteria kitchen.
Boy, do I miss those knishes - neither my husband or daughter has ever had a real one, just my feeble attempts at recreating that missed food from my childhood. We’re going to Brooklyn later this month for my 35th reunion, so I have just added getting real knishes to my “must bring home” list of things while I’m there. Last time I was back there, I was 8 months pregnant for my 20th reunion, so the child is finally going to see “the city.”

No question about that! We'll be staying with my best friend from HS and her family - she was also 8 months pregnant at the 20th reunion so her son Jack (less than a week younger) and my Jax will get to meet for the first time and we're all really excited about that.

Not worried about that, will just hit up a local deli and buy them out and bring them home with me to freeze!
