WKBW?
Yes it had those call letters years ago..KB1520 nickname, top 40,
right? Can be heard in various parts of
northeast after dark
I remember the calls wkbw too. Those were radio daze !?
liberal talk to liberal sports.
So happy Fox1 is out. ESPN is the same network that spiked the story about the Syracuse assistant buggering kids. Same network that had very little problem with Penn State, and the rumor is they lobbied for them behind the curtain on the sanctions.
Can’t stand ESPN. Used to be the fun network.
On a few web sights where libs congregate (wapo.exe etc.) whenever I submit a post mentioning that liberal talk radio has always failed, the common response is something to the effect of, “Liberals can think for themselves. We don’t need a Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity to tell us how to think”.
Then they might want to rethink that whole Atheism thing because it's downright miraculous that they all spew the same talking points.
You do know Bernie Fine was found innocent right? That the kids fully recanted? That prosecutors DID NOT CHARGE HIM WITH ANYTHING?
Research a little before you put a cheap accusation out like that.
Good, even though I have no use for sports talk radio, this is a much better fate for the historic “KB” than to be used as an outlet for lib-talk.
there’s no difference. Olberman is on ESPN and all ESPN talks about are fag rights.
I actually heard Colin Cowherd say he voted for obama twice. And that he’s a liberal AND a “fiscal conservative”. I threw up on my breakfast.
Was it my imagination, or did I see Comrade Olbermann doing sportscasting on ESPN recently?
Yes or “those on the right don’t do critical
thinking”. Fear not the left still has
taxpayer funded NPR.
Usually there is an effort when this happens
to try and bring it back—petitions, rallies..
like recent flips to sports in Portland,OR
and Seattle. Boston has no commercial
prog talk station.
But again why bother as there is NPR
I may listen to playoff play by play..on
ESPN radio (though I can also get games
via local broadcasts picked up by XM)
I remember the wkbw of my youth: Dick Biondi, Tommy Shannon, Danny Nevareth, Jungle Jay Nelson, Sandy Beach, Joey Reynolds
Ok, dont flame me too bad, but I know I have forgotten a ton of them.
And a missed revenue opportunity. HBO is airing a documentary called Glickman. It’s the story of Marty Glickman, and I recommend it to everyone who loves sports, and sports announcing.
Anyway, he was the guy who put Tennis on the TV map. Used to be they only broadcast the finals, and a rival network (NBC, I think) had it already. He told ABC to go after the first three days and broadcast that. Made a ton of money for both Tennis and the network.
NCAA Div III and lower teams are outstanding, and they have loyal local followings. Oregon State, ranked 25 this last weekend was beat by EWU, which you’d be forgiven for not knowing - Eastern Washington University, which has won numerous Div III titles, regional and national.
Appalachian State beat Michigan last year, which made my entire season.
ESPN is the Microsoft of sports. Time for a new operating system in sports beside the BCS, for example.
ESPN is liberal talk radio.
It was a heck of showing for the FCS schools. Kansas State, San Diego State and South Florida, fell, too, IIRC.
