For as long as US troops were in Iraq, Assad supported al Qaeda thugs who killed US servicemen and women in Iraq.

I too hate al Qaeda, but I don't believe everyone in the FSA is against us.

An ideal outcome is Assad is overthrown by his army and a political settlement is reached between the opposition and the Baathist government.

A second gas line into Europe would be in our national interest, as it would weaken Russia's leverage on Europe. Reagan, if I remember correctly nixed a gas line from the Soviet Union to Europe.

The Saudis could support a Kurdish break off from Syria, put the pipeline through there to the Mediterranean. Or why don't the Saudis make a deal with Assad? He's about to win the war. Why take the long shot with insane jihadis, they don't care about having a viable economy, look what Morsi did in Egypt.

You really think having the Saudis and Qatar at the helm is in our national interest?

We are helping Islam achieve their caliphate. Notice how the ME dictators are all being ousted? We are going to give them what they wanted. Mostly likely a deal was struck that once they get their caliphate, the muzzies will play nice with us.

I doubt it. Europe will then be dependent on muzzies who will kill all who fail to convert.

Actually, this sets up the end times scenario if you want to look at it that way.

I think having multiple supplies of gas for Europe is in our national interest.

Yeah, but you see, we don’t own the gas. And what kind of selling of our national soul has been done for this?

Do you like being at the whims of the Saudis for gasoline now?

We have been kept from our own drilling because of them.

I don’t blame you asking that at all. I mean I remember Walter Duranty and other frauds who have worked at the NYT’s. I’m reading many sources and some of them I cannot quote. I’ve no doubt whatsoever that Assad used chemical weapons on his own people twice now.

One of the reasons that I won’t cheer to see the USA fail in Syria is that I hated the way the Liberals treated Bush during the second Gulf War. I believe they overlooked the disaster that would occur if we failed in Iraq. Fortunately, Bush defied them with the surge and even Obama’s weak “get out of town quick” efforts didn’t turn the regime change in Iraq into an al Qaeda victory. I hate what Obama is doing to the USA, but I won’t be one who wants our enemies to succeed in Syria (al Qaeda, Putin, or Assad). Assad deserves our revenge. He supported al Qaeda when they were killing Americans in Iraq. What we must do is make sure he gets what he deserves and that the FSA can confront and defeat al Qaeda.

The thing that makes very little sense to me is why would Assad use chemical weapons in this way? The rebels have seized a number of Syrian military bases and other important locations. Surely these would have been better situations for the use of these weapons (either while they were being taken or later to get the rebels out).

Instead the weapons are used in populated areas in the suburbs of the capital. In one of the best areas for western media to see the aftermath.

From the standpoint of the Assad regime, none of that makes logical sense to me.

The FSA is mostly Al Qaeda at this time. Two years ago, not so much. Many Christians are set up for a slaughter. There is no good end to this. This could start a regional war or worse WWIII.

What a colossal mess.

By the way. Iraq is now almost a total loss. Gets worse everyday.

FSA and al Qaeda have fought each other and will again as soon as Assad falls, which I believe will happen regardless of what we do. Even Iran is backing away from him.

Oh, but of course: We must believe all intercepted communications at face value, as Arabs are too backward to watch TV or read a newspaper and comprehend that the US NSA is, among many others, listening to ALL radio communications, wired & wireless.

Want the world to know? Use a radio/cell/computer.

That stated, I believe the Germans really did grab an intercept. The problem, stating the obvious in current company, is the little phrase, “orgy of evidence”...

These puzzle pieces fit too neatly; that ‘smell test’ again...

Thanks for the ping.

NY Times, eh,,,

Must be straight from the Administration....bolstering the case....against Assad,

Not doubting it,

Probably have more info they will declassify as they think they need to add to the public knowledge.
