Don’t build a house, that you cannot afford to lose, near any coastline.

"The good news is that three-quarters of California's coastline is cliffs, and thus immune to the harsher and more devastating impacts tsunamis could pose," said Lucy Jones, who led the study.

The bad news is where there're cliffs there're no people.

I’m sure all the Gaia worshippers will be pleased that this is a naturally occurring event.

9.1 would devastate the world, let alone California.

It would be amazing to be on the Marin headlands above the Golden Gate when the wave came in. Because of the restriction, the ports of Oakland and Richmond would probably be OK unless the wave came in at high tide and even then the damage would be minimal. San Pedro and Long Beach would take a BIG hit. Imagine stacks of containers being hit by 20' of water with the empties being carried inland causing general mayhem.

Unfortunately, Santa Cruz is somewhat protected from such an event. Crescent City, Eureka, Half Moon Bay, Seaside, Marina, Morro Bay, Venice Beach, Marina Del Rey, Huntington / Newport Beach, and and bunches of beach towns north of San Diego and Mission Bay would get creamed.

Yep, and a super volcano coming directly from the earth’s core could erupt beneath the white house in DC, totally destroying our government and wiping out the city. I mean, if we are going to dream up fairy tales make it good.
