In 1955 I was attending a high school in western KCK. We danced every morning before school in the girl’s gym. Only handful of Black students in a school of almost 400. Injury was not life ending but created a lot of problems within the school.
Although it was an isolated incident, conflict between students has been going on for a long time.

This entire operation was facilitated more by White who was the Democrat Mayor of Houston at the time than by Perry. Sold to those of us who lived in Houston at the time as a “how can we possibly turn our back on these poor people”. Katrina exposed the underbelly of NOLA and it was not pretty.
I graduated from that school in 1972. Things have sure changed since then!
