Wishful thinking, I fear.

Then so is the rule of law.

Unfortunately that is a true statement, and the people here that wish to scrap it in order to pick a clean and articulate candidate are not going to restore it.

They need to bear in mind that Linda Graham was an articulate Congressman that we elevated to the Senate, then there is that other clean and articulate Hispanic from Florida we were all so jazzed up about just a short while ago. Then we have Runt Paul that sells us out on Amnesty and defunding Healthcare.

We have Battered Wives Syndrome.

Sober recitation of facts won’t satisfy the haters.

Sure they would if you actually had some to recite.

Instead of seeking the office, Sen. Ted Cruz may be trying to force the issue into the "national" debate.

Where exactly is “natural born citizen” defined in the Constitution?

It is right next to the Article defining the word "is." It is enough that the Framers differentiated the two by specifically spelling out the requirements to be President, no other office has that requirement spelled out.

The meaning was well understood until the New World Order types decided to move their agenda forward, so they have clouded the issue with the willing participation of delusional patriots.

Nominate whomever you want, it won't matter in the least unless it fits their agenda. The Constitution died some time ago.

we pay no attention to the birther crap any more.

Damn Straight, they don't pay any attention to the 2nd amendment, so why should we care what that old Constitution says anyway. We should quote the Constitution when we agree with it, and quote the law when it doesn't, that way we can always be on the right side of every issue.

his mother's having satisfied the above conditions is enough.

Only to those intent on subverting the constitution.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I have absolutely zero confidence in the Supreme Court. Or the Senate. Or the Congress. Or the GOP-e. Or the RINOs. We’re at the point that if we do not have a rebellion against the major political parties, we’re done for as a constitutional republic. Therefore I support the tea party rebellion 100%. And Ted Cruz is just the man to lead if he decides to do so. And if he does, I’m all in. It’s now or never!!

Somebody, anybody, tell me what his “sins” were, again??

Why is it a sin to be ineligable to run for President of the United States? 99.9999% of all the people born here of two citizen parents will never be president, did our fathers sins keep us out of that office?

The sin is we can't seem to find but one person that is acceptable to be our President, truly we are a sinful people.

Wanna bet?

Absolutely, Ted Cruz will never be President, unless he runs as a democrat, after they ram through Amnesty. Texas will be Blue within ten years.

So can anyone else on earth who meets the age requirement

Age can be subjective with fake ID, as any college student can attest.

Original intent is the go-to catch-all for the birthers. That lets them play fast and loose with long meaningless quotes that don't have the force of law.

Sad to see you behave this way Johnny, can I put you down now as a Romney supporter too?

What it does not say is that someone is not a natural born citizen who is born in the US with only one parent already a citizen.

It does not say Citizen either it says Citizens, plural.

The people making the pro eligibility argument tend to base their position on Citizenship at Birth under the Citizenship statutes.

No they don't. They are making their argument is based on emotion generated by a few good speeches. We do that a lot here.

Xxxxx Xxxxx for President! Woo! Wooo!

Cruz’s father says he did not know Castro was a communist.

Eisenhower didn't either and we financed Castro's invasion. Ike did try to undo it, but JFK put the kiabosh on that adventure.

A lawyer learns how to construe documents in his/her first year of study.

A lawyer then earns a good living misconstruing documents, the better they are at that the more money they make.

We need to document the intent of the framers..... It is precisely a situation like this why our government was established with co-equal branches and checks and balances.

Can't be done. We can only document what one activist judge on the Supreme Court decides the intent was.

Matters of common sense should need no adjudication, only lawyers can make that necessary.

The hardcore birthers are idiots because they use the same convoluted and long-winded crap to try to make their point,

They do exactly what you do Johnny, they just use facts you don't agree with. They are not idiots, but I may be forced to assign you to that category if you keep insulting any who disagree with you on this point.

We need this thread like we need a hole in the head, but whether Cruz is declared NBC is of little importance to the process, he will never be President unless he runs as a Democrat. Live with it.
