Well this man still had two arms and legs, police killed a man not too long ago who only had one arm and one leg, was in a nursing home in a wheelchair and “hemmed the police officer in a corner while waving something in his hand”, the item in his one remaining hand was a ball point pen. Compared to the guy in the wheel chair, a 95 year old vet with four limbs probably looked like King Kong on a rampage.
I have an eleven year old grandneice I would recommend to handle such problems in the future. I believe she could have handled this situation without having to kill one of our last remaining heroes from WWII and I guarantee she would not have gotten a scratch. In a worst case scenario she could have had her twelve year old brother help her overpower the dangerous individual.
This is a real problem with incompetent people... Be they police, teachers, managers, whatever. They only have limited ways to deal with people on the job.
A cop who can’t resolve disputes any other way than lethal force, just shoots the old bastard. Maybe the cop was too weak or untrained or just stupid. And how about the incompetence of the staff that called 911 to resolve what must be a daily occurrence at their facility.
Bad teachers just drug the unruly kids. They can’t manage a classroom.
Bad managers and leaders just rule by fear.
It’s all they have in their armamentarium.
This is where we are.
They’ve been less mouthy because it’s slowly sinking in through their thick skulls that they’re excusing the inexcusable.
When the tacti-kool wannabe’s are using force to take down a 95 year old man (who, no surprise, subsequently dies from the abuse of the cops) and we see a SWAT team dispatched to an animal shelter because they’re holding a whitetail fawn, there’s no defense possible.
Or bravery, or public service.
The only things we can now expect from the police is “respect my authoratah... or else!”
I know several police officers and that is a major part of their being.
They expect respect, but the respect they give is a façade.
Yes: They will call you sir. but it doesn’t mean a thing, they have little respect for ordinary citizens. Many really do think they are above the law.
Because unless there are exceptional circumstances the ARE above the law. Remember the Boston co-ed who was murdered by a cop when he shot a pepper spray ball (kind of like a paintball except a lot faster) into her eye (and brain)? Was ruled an accident, and he didn't even get charged with manslaughter. Remember the instructor in the GA polic academy who (IN VIOLATION OF THEIR OWN RULES) was using a loaded gun in a classroom and killed one of the police cadets? He was never charged with anything. He got a paid suspension, but eventually he quit tesching at the police academy.
In the last ten yeas I know of eight cops who were actually charged with something and convicted. There was the Danziger bridge incident where two men were murdered by cops. Five cops were found guilty of a number of charges, but noticeably neither murder or attempted murder were in the mix,
and there was the Atlanta cops who killed 92 year old Kathryn Johnson They plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and conspiracy to violate civil rights resulting in death I think the longest sentence was 12 years.
I wonder if cops get an especially big thrill out of killing old people. Is it like stomping on a puppy's head as opposed to shooting a charging pit bull?
