Savage is politically unreliable and badly abuses his staff.

He might also be an alcoholic it a manic-depressive.

I can only take Hannity for about five minutes before I tire of hearing bullet points on repeat.

Rush Limbaugh IS talk radio.

Sean Hannity would disappear from the airwaves if his show went up against Rush.

Ideology is about more than just ideas. They speak to a fundamental nature. Researchers repeatedly show that one halmark of the Consevative is a high loyalty to in-group, and disregard for out-group interests. Conversely, a halmark of the Liberal is limited loyalty to in-group (read selfishness), and a high openess to out-group interests (read willingness to curry favor with outsiders for personal gain).

In my experience, that type of psychology may be OK among some women, who tend to be more conflict averse, and nuturing by nature. There are mildly Democrat women who I like, and view as trustworthy. But I have NEVER met a mature Liberal man who I would trust any farther than I could throw him. Obviously, freindship without trust would speak to a somewhat skewed defintion of friendship.

That Sean doesn’t see this is perfectly reasonable cause for suspicion, and discomfort with trusting him. Either he does see it, and he is manipulating perceptions by trying to appear worldly and open to outiders, or he doesn’t see it, in which case I wouldn’t take his opinions on anything too seriously. Either way, it is a mark against him.

We Conservatives are, after all, in-group oriented for a reason, and harshness in some form is approaching.

He is.

See my review of his last live arena show from 2004.

Personally, I don't think that Savage has the stamina to go up against Limbaugh and/or Hannity on a consistant, regular basis. He only does 2 hours of his 3-hour show, with the 3rd hour as a repeat or with a fill-in host.

I don’t agree with the parody comment but, indeed, Savage is a character created by Weiner in a place (Savage Nation) created by Weiner and to take it/him literally is to miss the point. That said, his attack on Zimmerman was a bridge too far. ‘Artistic license’ may allow wild, contradictory rants on general topics, braggadocio and fanciful ‘biographical’ tidbits but it does not excuse jeopardizing a man’s freedom.

"Apparently, Hannity can be friends with people who don't share his ideas. Go figure."

He can be friends with whomever he chooses. I have issues with him giving them a platform for their spew on what is evidently the number two talk radio program in the nation.

Aren't talk shows supposed to be platforms for "issues"?

It's the number two talk radio program because of hosts like Hannity or am I wrong? Is in number two in spite of rather than because of?

One man's "spew" is another's discussion.
Besides you can always change the channel. It's especially easy in the car with the push buttons.

Who is Savage??

I listened once or twice years ago to some guy with that name. That was enough.

Is this the same guy? Some of you listen? Really?

And I do. Life is hard enough these days without listening to some liberal try to explain to me why I really just don’t get it on what is supposed to be a conservative show.

Your mileage may vary though.

I disagree with your definition of Conservative.

Each culture defines Conservative and Liberal differently because each culture is different. European Conservatives, I would think, differ greatly than Conservatives from Saudi Arabia. A European Liberal can't compare with a Saudi Liberal because there AREN'T any there!

High loyalty to an in-group = Conservative? And limited loyalty to an in-group = Liberal? I searched the Internet and must conclude that you invented your own definition of both.
By your definition Liberals are selfish. I know folks from both groups and they DEFY such pat definitions.

Come one, CONFESS, you made that up!

If you hate these liberal shows so much, why have them on your radio? YOU control all the buttons so you can just have the buttons tuned to shows you like.

You also control your television and all those buttons.

It's my read that you turn on the icky shows just to be annoyed. You can't be really LISTENING to them, otherwise YOU would be the one making your life hard these days.

And WHAT in the world do you mean by "Your mileage may vary"?? Sorry, that's beyond me. :o) A joke perhaps? If so, haha; if not, huh?

Who is Savage??

I listened to him about 10 years ago. Would call his callers mean names and hang up on them. It was mildly amusing. But then during the DC sniper hysteria he got on air screaming for bush to "suspend the constitution!" and do house to house searches like we saw in Watertown a few weeks ago during the boston bomber manhunt. He jumped the shark at that point. Anyone who wants to use his platform to wipe his ass on the bill of rights loses me as a listener.

I'm not that way with Hannity. Of course, I don't watch the news talks shows every day. They are, by nature, repetitive. I read the news on-line and watch the networks when there are shows I like. I LOVE TABITHA TAKES OVER, cooking shows and the occasional movie.
News shows: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

By the way, Tabitha is a hoot. She deals with all kinds of people and her take on things, her no-nonsense approach and her abrasiveness are EVER-changing.

Your reading of him is right on the money.
I got tired of listening to him scream, rant and rage ALL THE TIME. It got so old.

I think that's the reason why the Sunday Morning talking head threads don't generate as much interest as they could. After all, who wants to waste their day off being lied at by dhimmicrats, or stabbed in the back verbally by the GOPers?

I’m not a regular Hannity listener, for the reasons you describe. I prefer my conservative shows as undiluted by GOP-E and liberals as possible, so I favor Rush and Mark Levin.

I’ve got people in my office who are conservatives (I’m fortunate that way) and sometimes he’s on over lunch. I just don’t care for his presentation style. Were it me, I’d find something else to listen to.

My comment about ‘your mileage may vary’ was simply to say that there are different strokes for different folks, and if debate is your thing, more power to you.

I USED to be on this site REGULARLY, some years ago. Now, I'm on and off, playing cards on-line more often.

You ARE lucky to have conservatives in your office. I worked in San Francisco and the city is fairly liberal. My own group were great but the general group of teachers were sadly liberal.

You know the old saying: If at 21 you're not liberal, you have no soul. If at 41 you're not conservative, you have no brains.

Colonel Flagg was hysterical. I stopped watching M*A*S*H* because I got REAL tired of Alan Alda. The sidekick, B.J., I think, from Marin Country, got on my nerves EVEN MORE. But, Flagg made me chuckle every time he popped (literally sometimes) into the show! Hahaha, makes me laugh every time I think of him. :o):o)
