drone sold to n.korea...$1000000.00 and/or 10 years in jail.:-))
“People who fire guns at drones are endangering the public and property”
And I counter by saying that flying unmanned drones in my airspace endangers me and is a hazard to legitimate air traffic. Don’t start and they won’t be shot down.
That was the PETA-clone group SHARK, and their little spy drone was brought down by hostile fire from Broxton Bridge Plantation, a local trap & skeet club near Earhardt, SC that features live-pigeon shoots. I’ve shot there before (just clay pigeons).
No arrests, no legal action, scratch one animal-rights-whackos’ drone.
Forget shotgunners, a kid with a .22 rifle can make it happen.
I expect drones would fly out of gun range, and besides, shooting projectiles would be dangerous. The most practical solution would be a counter-drone with a camera that flies head-on into the target, just like a killer satellite. I have no doubt that RC hobbyists could design something like that.
Kamikaze drone killers. :)
A certain GlobPosSys denial device in the +100W range would fit in a Coke can and give them some major issues.
Kind of like Han Solo talking about the Falcon making the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.
40 Watts for a light bulb means it consumes 40 Watts of electricity. A 40 Watt laser means 40 Watts of output coherent light. See here for a video of a 40W laser used for cutting and engraving: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MBj1uc8_vF0&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DMBj1uc8_vF0 Still not weapon level, but does more than a 40W light bulb. (OK, maybe it should have been 400W - that would be a decent weapon.)

What you need though is an onboard visual system with a joystick remote. That, and a GPS return system if you lose radio control...
I read where that was on purpose. The shortest Kessle run involves cutting through a cluster of black holes, and if you are not fast enough, you will get sucked into one.
400 Watt output is still not really weapons grade and would only be relevant if we’re talking a continuous beam weapon. You would still want Kilowatts or, better yet, Megawatts.
If its a pulsed weapon, you want to know the total energy in the pulse - Joules. 40MJ is roughly 19 sticks of dynamite (2.1 MJ per stick), so it actually more of a light artillery piece or support weapon. Should have said “in the Megajoule range.” Roughly half a stick of dynamite, hopefully with armor piercing characteristics as well as “spatter.”
They can do anything they want with them - except follow young black males.
What if drones are flying over Petoria? Can Peter shoot them down?
You left out Illegals, since they’re now a protected class as well.
Then keep the damn' thing away from my property, dammit! I'm tellin' ya outright - I see one flying over my property and I'm emptying a magazine shooting at the sumna bitch!
There will come a day when everyone will be thinking “What the hell were my parents and grandparents thinking?” That is if they have any idea how good things once were.
(assuming we can find enough ammo to supply it)
A little camo, grease paint, turkey hunting face net, a good blind, a good weapon, extended range time, ...................................................
People who shoot at drones are performing a public service.
