I stick to about knee deep. Being Irish, the beach isn’t the ideal place for me anyway.

I remember in the summer of 2001 shark attack stories were constant, especially in FL but CA too. There was an expressed and tangible sentiment emanating from the leftist media that it was our fault for swimming in their waters and we shouldn’t blame the sharks. After that summer 9/11 happened and the same media blamed the USA and not the terrorists for murdering over 3,000 Americans.

At least she couldn’t have lived too long which would be the only good side of the event...

I live at the Jersey shore, site of the series of 1916 shark attacks that inspired the movie, "Jaws"

I've been afraid of the ocean since I found out where New York City dumps its sewage. I couldn't find the annual statistics, but a lot more probably die from infections contracted while swimming than die because of shark attacks.

Well, if the photo at the link is the spot where this happened, he’s knee-deep and about 5 meters from shore. lol.
It’s a file photo, so probably inaccurate.

Not a shark story, but when I was about 10 at Jekyll Island I got stung by a jellyfish. Torso, front and back, two weeks of hell.

That kept me out of the ocean for quite a while.
