I’ve read about scumbags who’ve shined laser beams into the eyes of pilots departing or arriving at an airport.

Other stories online are suggesting it could have been a laser.

Could be true. I seem to recall some years ago when several commercial pilots complained of laser beams coming throgh the cockpit into their eyes.

The film showed another aircraft heading in the opposite direction (I think) very nearby. Reflection maybe?

“It is unknown at this time why the doors inflated inside the aircraft.”

After watching the video of the plane crashing, it is amazing any of the doors opened at all.

Laser beam? Unlikely. This happened during the daylight hours. How would the person know how to direct the laser beam without being able to see the beam was going?

That’s what I thought: the flash of realization that he really screwed up, and he and 300+ people might die as a result.

In other words, an “oh, s***,” moment.

Agreed. The airframe was stressed well beyond the point where any reasonable person would expect anything to work!

By the time they realized they were in trouble it was already too late and a flash wouldn’t have made much difference.

The aircraft was substantially too high and then too low and slow before “the light” ever shone — it was a terrible approach and the light wasn’t to blame for the crash.
