I think you’re right about that. Up until recently he still had his gang tats visible on his neck. Maybe Trayvon was a legacy inductee into the gang. If so, the judge will make sure the jury won’t hear about it.
Good points, but as an experienced criminal defense trial lawyer, I gotta say that unfortunately that might not mean much with this all-female jury. Mark O’Mara did a great job,but I have to question the wisdom of an all-female jury. Too much reliance on feelings, not enough logic. Hope I’m wrong to worry about it.
You make good points, but Zimmerman is obviously not “white.” Look at his mom and his uncle. They’re obviously HIspanic, I would think largely of South American Indian ancestry. It’s true that they seems to be a very nice family that wanted nothing more than to assimilate into the larger American culture, but that doesn’t make them “white” to anybody but a Democrat!
If he wasn’t in the gang yet he was sure headed in that direction. Who was going to stop him? Obviously it was no big deal that he was ALREADY in trouble.
I used to work for a very unintelligent person that said this at least 1/2 dozen times a day. Drove me to the edge.
I worked with a MS weenie who constantly said “ATM machine.”
One day I asked:
“What does ATM stand for?”
Him: “Automatic Teller Machine.” [in a waddya? stoopid? tone]
“So, what is an `ATM machine’?”
Him: “F**K YOU!” [storms off]
(I kinda had fun, but that was in my cranky sysadmin days.)
What is the VIN number on your auto ?
The all female jury may be a factor. The difference will be if they identify with the mother of a dead son, or with Zimmerman and the fear of a feral young thug.
The good news is that none of them are black. It saddens me to have to observe that black jurors are in most cases unable to look beyond race to find a black defendant guilty or a non-black defendant not guilty.
Yeah, or a jury that was all Polish, or Italian, or Jewish. You can imagine how *they* would vote.
