How long after you register the Tea Party as an official political party until you have the same problem as all these other stupid political parties? Those in positions of responsibility in the centralized organization sooner or later worry more about whats needed for its own survival than what best for America and the American people. That is why the Tea Party in uncommon wisdom has resisted centralizing into an official political party.
This is what we did. We changed our registration to Independent. This sent a message to the local Republican Party that we did not agree with all the crap going on, especially since they called us and asked why we changed. Second it really has made no difference as far as our participation in politics since we still talk it all the time and there is no activity going on until the next election. The only thing we cannot do is vote in the primary (which was pretty much rigged by the local parties, both Republican and Democrat). It has saved us some money since we are refusing to contribute to any of the candidates now.
I guess the answer to your questions is just get some adult beverage and have the popcorn ready.
A decentralized political party ala the Independents might just be what were evolving toward. The major parties have proven to be nothing but destructive to the republic. Perhaps its time for the people to withdraw their faith from that whole institution.
Yes, the Tea Party was very wise to remain decentralized and local. Perhaps the same model should be followed in creating a political opposition to the major parties. I like to think of myself as simply an American who subscribes to our nations founding principles and traditions. I love my country and my people, and find the political arena to be a huge distraction to my expression of that love.
Id much rather know whats in a potential representatives heart and soul, than make my choice based upon that persons party affiliation. I believe thats the key to Sarah Palins enduring popularity. People see her as an American first, and a politician second.
Maybe shell get out in front of this cultural evolution and call for an end to the sordid institution of politics altogether. Let men and women run for office standing on their own two feet, attracting supporters based upon what they espouse and believe in.
Dunno, but I think its a thought worth exploring.
That’s helpful. I’m going to look into changing my registration to “independent.”
