Reagan supported NSA. The issue is much bigger than who is President. We need NSA to keep track of the bad guys. But we don't want them spying on us.

The system in place can, properly managed, accomplish that. It is currently in dispute here as to whether that management system is working and whether it has been corrupted along the lines of the IRS, EPA, Justice Dept., and the FBI. That is a healthy debate.

What should not be in dispute is our need for some organization like NSA to be on the watch for the activities of the bad guys of which there are many. But many here at FR are ready to give it all up in the name of the 4th Amendment. I don't think the Chinese, Russians and the French, all of whom spy on us with impunity, are deserving of protection under our Constitution.

For those who agree that the Chinese, Russians and the French are fair game, it should be obvious that there will be risks to our Constitutional Freedoms when ever you implement a system to spy on these guys.

So we have choice: give up spying altogether or try to patch together a system to keep up the spying while protecting the privacy rights of Americans.

The later is what was attempted. If it has faults then we should fix them but throwing out the whole enchilada because someone like Obama is President just seem short sighted to me.

Of course Reagan supported NSA. He supported the gathering of foreign intelligence. He didn't support acquiring private information of United States persons.

Under Reagan NSA's domestic surveillance activities were limited by the requirements imposed by the Fourth Amendment.

That has all changed now.

Surely you don't support warrantless searches on US citizens by the federal government, do you??

The problem for Communist regimes is many of their useful idiots actually BELIEVE the “power to the people” stuff they cram down everybody’s throat.

When the footsoldiers realize the promised Utopia isn’t Utopia, but rather a tyranny, some of them panic and flip on their masters.

That’s why the gulag comes in handy. Or in our case today, “David Gregory mocks you on TV and you don’t care.”

The mask has slipped, folks.

Pop popcorn.

Here's an idea. Let's be on the side of the US Constitution, the Fourth Amendment and inalienable rights.

I suspect Jeff that you are in full agreement with that...

Absolutely!

It would be shocking considering that Samples died in 1983.

No one ever claimed Greenwald was anything but a far-leftist. This isn’t news. Nonetheless, I’m glad he helped Snowden get his message out.

lol ...

On the other hand, perhaps Junior faked his own death to evade his many indiscretions. He was, after all, quite handy with the ladies.
