“A World Bank-commissioned study revealed that eight out of 10 Filipinos personally experienced the impacts of climate change in the last three years.”
A real professional “journalist” editor would have given this report a different title - my correction in [ ]; as follows:
“A World Bank-commissioned study revealed that eight out of 10 Filipinos [believe that they] personally experienced the impacts of climate change in the last three years.”
And they have every reason to believe that. They have been told over and over by the media that the storms and floods that they have exepericed, and that Phillipine Islands have experienced since time immemorial, ONLY are happening - in their time - due to “global warming”.
“The study conducted by the Social Weather Stations”
translation - social scientists sticking their finger up in the “social environment” to see which way “popular belief” is flowing.
Is it a study about “global warming” of “climate change”?
No. Its about people’s popular beliefs.
I confess, I’ve had two beers on a fairly warm Saturday afternoon ... and I have no idea what you said in #40
TALAGA !!!
Coming from the World Bank, I can imagine the questions...
“Do you want more money? Do you NEED more money to cope with climate change? Have you been harmed by climate change?”
And note, it is now climate change...so if the world turns colder, it will still be a cause for taxation and regulation.
Those who replied in the affirmative are savvy. In today’s world it never hurts and usually helps to have “victim” status. One never knows when the next “Pigford” will come along.
