No worries. Christie is a big fat object of derision in this household, so there is a certain immunity built in to that. I was never fooled by that tool. It’s amazing the insights I’ve had since I rejected the words of Ann Coulter. She holds us back.

I think that’s the wrong animal. Think horns on the nose.

As a counterweight?

at the risk of alienating religious conservatives

Religious conservatives? How about all conservatives.

"Christie has pitched himself as a pragmatic, bipartisan leader as he seeks a second term as governor this fall. … "

Last year, Christie signed fewer bills than any New Jersey Governor in the last 168 years. He's openly pro-life, he vetoed gay marriage, he vetoed an increase in the state's minimum wage and he's at war with the public employees' unions and the teacher's union. Based on what he's actually done, he stands to the right of that "pragmatic, bipartisan leader" that the Republican Party nominated in 2012.

Christie is morbidly obese, but I would prefer almost any morbidly obese Republican President to the thin Bolshevik we have today.

I can not see Christie on the 2016 Republican ticket, at least in the #1 spot. I would also not be surprised if the Republicans somehow manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again in 2016, no matter how much Obamanomics and Obamacare spikes the economy by then.

Sort of like a RhINO walking a tightrope. Doubt if that’s going to end well.

Chris Christie had his stomach stapled to control his obesity, and now he needs to have his ego stapled to control his mania for attention.

As John McCain has demonstrated so convincingly over the years, the best way to dominate the media is to be an anti-Republican Republican, always available to the liberal press to criticize his own party while embracing Democrats literally and figuratively.

From a hugfest with Obama to a smooch-a-thon with the Clintons, he’s all over the airwaves. And does anyone expect the Republican voters of New Jersey to be any less supportive of the anti-Republican Chris Christie than the voters of Arizona have been of the similarly back-stabbing John McCain, who’s been easily winning elections there for centuries?

Until (as he claims) he saw his daughter pre-natally, Christie was pro-choice; he still is pro-abortion in cases of the mother’s life (supposedly) in danger, incest and rape. Flip-floppers are suspect.

Christie may have shut down that overpriced “Access to the Region’s Core” project (new railroad tunnels to Manhattan), but he supports the Amtrak “Gateway” project, which is estimated to cost even more. He also let New Jersey Transit engage in superfluous purchases of new double-deck trains, electric locomotives and questionable “dual-power” locomotives (completely untested and at $12 million each) instead of rebuilding existing single-deck trains and electric locomotives, which got retired instead after 20 years (some of the locomotives were only 14 years old).

Let’s not get into his anti-gun stances.

Nobody is concerned about the GOP. A win for the GOP is not a win for conservatives.
