When you put things under water, they'll probably get wet during a flood. (I wonder how much cash NYC will give me for that little tidbit of information?)

So now we have a cooling problem, and that’s proof that we have to do something about global warming?

Given what Sandy did, this is a prudent course of action but NOTHING to do with global warming.

when you build on an island or along a coast, you take your chances with mother nature and you pay through the nose for insurance because of it. Blaming the atmosphere won’t change that.

Can Bloomy scrape up a few billion to send NYC kiddies on snipe hunts, too?

When you build on fill, you're likely to have long term issues.
Not unlike building on an ever moving coastal sand barrier island.

I was listening to this report on the radio here today. The group made a statement that temps will be 4 to 6 degrees higher on average by 2050. I call BS.

Super Storm SandyI'm so tired of that name ... 80 mph winds and a 9' storm surge. Katrina was 125mph with a 25' surge and Ike was 110mph with a 22' surge. Sandy was a bitch of a storm because of population density .. It was completely over hyped because it distrupted the lives of people in the MSM .. and God knows they are more important than people in flyover country.

Use resources to prepare for the inevitable climate change. Throughout Earth’s history the only constant in climate is CHANGE. Where ever you are living right now has at one time been part of the ocean floor AND covered in hundreds of feet of ice at some other time in history. Long before man as we know him walked the Earth, the climate changed on this Planet hundreds of times.

There are no real alternatives to the tunnels for the trains and motor vehicles under the East and Hudson Rivers, IMHO.
