Bless you and yours love. You’ve all been through a lot. Great news about your friend’s twin.
Absolutely! Well said. Prayers up for you and your sister. :)
oh and for her ‘cubs’ of course. ;)
Yes.
I watched mom die from breast cancer, over five years. Went to her brain. She never complained, nor did she lose her sharpness and dry English wit.
I watched my mother in law die from ovarian cancer, over ten years. An amazingly courageous woman.
I watched my wife die from leukemia, over five years. She wanted to live forever. It was genetic... deletion from the long arm of the fifth chromosome. Entirely predictable diagnosis, based on the cytogenetics, equally predictable prognosis and outcome.
The woman in the article has taken a bold step. I salute her, and pray for her and her children.
Yeah and my Dad was a marathon runner that had his first heart attack at 57.
The nest one did him in at 62.
What is the point?
My Auntie is like 79 and still smokes, reads her Bible, tells off color jokes, and sips a drink with me.
I commented about friends at #57 on this thread. The male twin and his wife have been my closest friends for close to 40 years. Their son is married with two girls. Their daughter-in-law has had 3 bouts of cancer...all different types. The first was breast cancer, and she underwent a double mastectomy at about the age of 40. She's now about 47.
Brother, you're not telling me anything I don't know... in spades. As I said, I've been down this hard road with my wife.
I still stand by my comments.
If a doctor told you you had a 90% chance of cancer, you might look at it differently. My wife was diagnosed with cancer a year after the doctor found the BRAC gene irregularities in her. Thanks to a good oncologist and followup, she’s still around to keep me in line.
I join you...
How is it “evil”. If God gave us knowledge to discover cures and diagnosis, why not use that knowledge?
Thanks for your blessings, and I send them back to you and yours.
And here is the very odd thing about genetics.
My Father was 62 when he died of heart attack.
He was extremely athletic.
His TWIN Brother was as well.
They did everything together.
Same life style, same genes. Everything.
The Twin made it to 76 and died of respiratory failure.
Go figure.
She got implants and probably won’t look much different.
As a breast cancer survivor myself, I know that if diagnosed early a lumpectomy plus chemo and radiation is all that is needed as opposed to a mastectomy. Plus I’m taking a pill to suppress estrogen for the next five years. If she’s afraid of chemo it wasn’t that bad for me thanks to some expensive drugs that fortunately my insurance paid for. I just experienced some fatigue. I just think that a double mastectomy without a cancer diagnosis is premature and unnecessary.
Sorry to hear about the early loss of your Father. I lost my Father at 70 to a heart attack and I felt that was too early. So I understand how early 62 is to lose a daddy :(.
My aunt had a double mastectomy because of her fear of breast cancer. She passed away at the young age of 56 from a virus that attacked her heart.
The rest of her siblings lived to a ripe old age, and my aunt will turn 90 next month.
“Go figure.”
Yep.
She’s probably tested positive for the breast cancer gene. From what I understand, a lot of young women in her boat have opted for the same surgery. I know if sounds crazy, but it’s not that unusual.
Glad to hear things have gone well for you. Prayers up for your continued health and healing.
They did everything in the exact same way except one thing.
My Father was the Alpha, now his brother was no slouch and they were co captains of the basketball team that went to State, They both ran Marathons.
But My Dad was the Alpha.
Uncle had a more laid back personality.
It was hardly detectable to folks that were not family.
great post. thank you and bless you.
