South eastern Michigan is the area where there is more gun violence, hence last years big budget for the State Police to train and get more trooper on the road. Sadly, most of the troopers will be put into service in SE Michigan.
Us poor schmucks who live up north have to be content/safe with one deputy on patrol during the day, and two cars on at night. There are certain hours where my county has no deputies on the road at all! We depend on the Staties to cover for us...but since the reorganization (gutting Northern Michigan posts) that coverage is sporatic. (Sorry for the bad spelling, I spent a long day putting bad guys in jail..woo hooo, I love my job!).
According to a recent study, our county had one murder last year. True. Time from crime to ride to the prison less than a year. Our county is busy, but we get the drunks, the druggies and the occasional overdose. Oh, the murder was with a long gun.
So, yeah, the crime is downstate. I don’t have time to search and see how much gun violence is done with “off the books” guns. I bet I could drive to Flint this weekend, and in one day, buy a pistol offa some guy for under $100.00. He’ll take the money and buy drugs. In my county, it’s pretty much sex for drugs...we don’t have prostitution anymore, we just have lots of drug busts.
I won’t presume to know the demographics, but my guess is low income, state funded bad guys (”hey, got an EBT card? I’ll sell ya a gun”). I assume you are thinking about race. I also assume that much of the gun-related violence is done by races other than white, but I am basing that assumption on the racial make-up downstate. Remember, I’m just assuming. (up here, we use our guns to A. wow ourselves at the range and B. hunt animals and eat them.)
What do you think they are?
Sure. Heres an article on The 10 Most Dangerous Cities in America with the top two spots being held by Michigan cities...
Since you obviously had the info available to you, what was the intent of your question?
Having grown up in northern Michigan myself, the only problem you really have to deal with is bar fights and teenagers driving under the influence........And those are easily dealt with on the the city or county level.
I've yet to read of any escalation in gun violence.
Where I live, we only see a county cop car roll through town about twice a month.
It’s called Detroit, it’s called Flint. All Democrat strong-holds, Union too....
Then he was obviously lost. Didn't he have the common sense to stop and ask for directions?
He’s been driving around aimlessly all this time and hasn’t found his way back into Jackson.
Domestic Violence
Assault and Battery
Operating under the Influence of Alcohol
Operating under the Influence of Drugs
Animal Abuse
Any crime involving booze.
Resisting and Fleeing the cops
Failing to register as a sex offender
Larceny
Embezzlement
Criminal Sexual Conduct, with minors, family members and former spouses.
Child abuse
Those are some of the crimes we had this week. Oh, and the drinking and driving? Most of ours are not minors.
But no gun crimes...oh, wait, there was that felon who was busted for something else who had a gun in his car. That’s it for guns.
Sounds like Berlin in 1933. All dictators want the guns.
So what law enforcement agency are you affiliated with? You've successfully failed to mention that........
Since you're not willing to mention which community this occured in, how about letting us know how many of those big crimes were attributed to one individual?
“Are there demographic similarities?”
Conyer voters...
“Why dont the Michigan Dems set up shop in Detroit, Flint or Saginaw, and start demanding a halt to gun violence from the street corners?”
Time for Michigan Dumbs to become neighborhood vigilantes ala George Zimmerman...and arm them to the teeth...make them put their lives where their mouths are...and what ever the outcome, the people of Michigan win.
Who said I was LE? I never implied that. And if I told you where I worked, well, then I’d have to...uh.
What I am pointing out is that not all crimes involve guns, and yes, the majority of the gun-related crimes happen downstate.
Dude, what’s your problem? Of course I’m not going to tell you where I work or what I do! I am telling you what a typical week in our county looks like. As for the crime/criminal rate, it’s pretty much one per person. Equal opportunity, you know.
