This isn’t going to provoke more protests, is it?
“James Dean, who died”
A dead American. That should arouse the interest of the adherents of the religion of peace.
Dean is buried in Fairmount, IN, just north of here. Fans have chipped pieces from his tombstone.
Even in death, “You’re tearing me apart!”
It wouldn’t take much for wild Islamic protests to occur. Just a half-hour of old TV-series....Puff N Stuff...would drive them to riot.
Steve McQueen?
The film was indeed rather well-made (Nicholas Ray, right?), but my tolerability level for anything to do with the topic of “teen angst” was always low to begin with, and has grown far moreso with each passing year. Especially since America itself has become such a faggoty, self-absorbed embarrassment of a country.
Yep, as a 17 year old Marine in 1947.
ROTFL...
Remember, “No one here but us chickens.” from the movie?
My Mother used that expression, but believe she heard it in OK.
I have no idea how 1955 audiences reacted to that scene, but it is SO over the top hammy today.
And O/T, but in Indianapolis, people chip pieces of John Dillinger's tombstone, too. The joke is that some people don't realize that John Dillinger Jr. was the gangster. His dad's headstone also gets chipped. Just not as much.
Bet it’s not the uncut black-and-white version, which as far as I know you can only see by buying the complete set of Dean movies. Libyans would surely riot.
If you have ever driven thru the part of San Luis Obispo
County where James Dean was killed in a car crash at the
fork where Hwy 41 and Hwy 46 meet you would think
you were driving thru downtown Anywhere, Libya.
A more desolate place you won’t find. I drove
thru the area last weekend for the umpteenth time because I
attended college on the Central Coast back in the 70s.
That northeast part of SLO County is a hellhole while
the southeast part of the county, Pismo Beach, is more
closer to a paradise. If you have satelite map access check
out Cholame, California (or Shandon, CA). You will see what
I’m talking about.
That’s sad that they destroy his tombstone. In Paris, gays do awful things to the tomb of Oscar Wilde.
I thought it was “Giant” that was released after his death but I’m no expert. But “Rebel” is a wonderful movie and Dean was a wonderful actor and star.
Rebel is in color.
Hammy?
...or why I never come to Free Republic for acting tips.
